Can't tell if serious. So, is The Onion "Fake News" now....or does it still fall under Parody and Satire? Fake News is trying to convince people of an alternative truth. Parody and Satire is creating a fake story to make you laugh. Equating Parody to Fake News is the type of the "Letter of the word", semantic argument people make when English isn't their first language...like the nauseating semantic arguments some Asian posters often start. I'm down with any decision to eliminate all Parody threads in the GARM, too, if that's what Clutch wants. But there are levels of egregiousness of offenses to his Stickied Rule, and there are varying lengths of time to be banned. Don't see why we can't have a sliding scale of offense, since the punishment can be a sliding scale. This is on the minor-offense side of breaking the "no joke threads" interpretation of the rule, and the "Melo Signs with Houston" -- Gotcha!!! -- would be on the PermaBan side of the equation or at least a month.
It's a parody thread dude. If Clutch banned everyone who made parody threads then a lot of us wouldn't be here right now. What Clutch was referring to are the people who make fake News threads, people who knowingly post fiction but write it as though it is fact just to get attention and piss people off.
I don't really want OP banned. But if everyone makes a "So and So are NOT trying to buy the Rockets" it's gonna be annoying and stupid. There are people who make daily threads that has no substance, just for the heck of it.

What Clutch said was pretty self explanatory. As black and white as possible. Quit trying to interpret it to fit what you would like it to mean. Parodies are "joke" threads and they don't belong in the GARM. Ask the op who started the thread if he was trying to be funny. You either go with what Clutch said, create your own site, or leave this one for a joke forum. I hear reddit has some good ones.
SamFisher is one of the original funny guys on these boards. (This thread is meh, lol). The same guys gooning it up in every thread and posting 500 times a day are now asking for bans of a joke thread? You don't have anything better to do than post penis memes and then start pleading for bans and rule enforcement? GLOVES OFF - LETS GO! PS - I feel like the subject matter in the OP would've been better off using DrexlerFan as the target. Then everyone would be all good.
I find amusement in the occasional humorous thread.... prob is - people get stupid and overdo it.... so we lose the benefit of an enjoyable thing because it gets out of hand... the line in the sand had been drawn...
So someone posts a fake/joke thread and we spend 3 pages arguing if it is either a fake thread or a joke thread. Y'all are awesome.
