No way Clevland trade Irving for Melo unless the trade involves porzingis

He's also closer with CP3 than he is with LeBron and the basketball fit alongside CP3/Beard > LeBron/Love.

So in your mind they are now trading away Kyrie and Love and getting back what? Melo? What else? So far the team is worse.

That's fair, they'd be a contender in the East but have no hope in beating whoever made it out of the West.

Kryie for Melo is implausible. I mean yeah anything can happen. But that trade would be as expected as LeBron to Houston this offseason

Another point to consider : Melo is probably fed-up with dealing with all the shenanigans of a dysfunctional organization which he's had to endure in NY. Cavs right now doesn't seem to be running all that smoothly with no apparent GM in place and players not getting along with each other.

In contrast, Houston just seems like much more fun place to be, and Melo probably was super impressed with Harden's performance last season because Harden absolutely killed in those two games against the Knicks. Plus, Melo is closer to CP3 than he is with LeBron anyway.

The knicks will offer Melo. The Cavs will be smart and decline. Dont worry.

First lets acknowledge a couple facts.

    - Kyre doesnt have a NTC and is sign for three more seasons... with the last year being a player option, meaning he's likely opting out for much more money and long term security.

    - Carmelo does have a NTC and is signed for two more season, with the last year being a player option, meaning he is most likely opting out and signing a new long term contract at the end of the year.

    Second a couple of speculations.

    - IMO obviously the Cavs aren't going to trade Kyrie for just melo and some NYK draft picks.

    - However, the three way trade speculated involving the Suns, Knicks and Cavs does seem plausible.

Suns - get the Knicks french point gaurd just drafted & channing Frye expiring.
Cavs - get Melo, Bledsoe and NYK 1st rounder.
Knicks - get Irving and Shumperts contract.

If not exactly this trade, something similar involving three teams isnt impossible.

Of course the Cavs could follow what the Lakers did in 2007 when Kobe demanded a trade. Simply not trade him and hope he changes his mind. Possible since they have him locked up for 2 more years and could possibly offer him the super max. If not they could trade him next year.

The Knicks of course could and IMO should keep Melo if they cant trade him for anything better than bad long term contracts like Ryan Anderson or similar. By not trading Melo, the Knicks will only have to deal with Melo and his contract for JUST this coming season. Since he would 99% opt out for more money & more security in a long term contract.

    Dude needs to chill.

    1. Its melo
    2. The cavs stated they would not trade kyrie for melo at all meaning a pick and a rookie wont change anything. Throw in kristaps and maybe they can start talking, but the knicks said they would not.
    3. Why would the cavs want melo if they have bron and love?

I doubt either lebron nor love want to play pf full time and fight for rebounds/guard bigger guys, nor so they want to chase around guards.

He and Lillard are both outside my top 20, and I think they are basically the same player. One dimensional combo guards.

The real hindrance to Melo-Kyrie trade is not the unwillingness on the Cavs part, because if they can somehow come up with a clever three-team deal, then theoretically it could work (I mean Melo + Bledsoe + a first round pick for Kyrie isn't all that bad.) But I still don't see why Melo would waive his NTC to go to Cleveland when chances of LeBron leaving is now a real possibility. He already ditched younger Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami before, and all of a sudden we expect LeBron sacrifice his career for a 33 year-old Melo? If Melo is smart (as I believe he is), he should be aware of that risk and prioritize Houston over CLE. Not to mention it's a better fit position-wise.

Likely correct, but reaching Finals does not equate to SCRUBS. Even in the Least.

So with the Kyrie news, the scenarios have gone from:
    A. Melo bought out, signs with Rockets
    B. Melo bought out, signs with Cavs
    C. Melo traded to Rockets in 3 team trade
    D. Melo traded to Rockets in 4 team trade
    E. Melo held until trade deadline to build value
    F. Melo not being traded at all

    F. Melo not being traded at all
    G. Melo being traded to Cleveland
    H. Melo being traded to Rockets with Kyrie going to New York in a multi-team trade
    I. New York holding Melo until 2018 to see Lebron's decision
    J. Melo and Lebron being traded to the Warriors by the league for "basketball reasons"
    K. Melo and Lebron go to Miami, Chris Bosh resigns, press conference saying "Not 1, not 2, not 3...."

Very true, that was a bit too much exaggeration, but if the Cavs were to fail to reach the finals I don't know that Lebron wouldn't look at his team that way.

Well, he can always opt out if Lebron bolts. Probably not ideal to go to Cleveland, but Houston just can't make this trade happen otherwise it would of happened already. I've lost hope in Melo to Houston. It's not as if Ryno was so so so bad that he made us suck. Sure it limits our peak, but he does provide good spacing because team still respect his shot even when he bricks at home continuously.

He may well feel that way even if in the Finals. The man has some strong BB IQ. However, the Least is not dog poop. Not 'that bad'. There are competitive teams in a few towns.
