That's an awful return for Kyrie. I think they'd have to make it Porzingis to really start that conversation.

I believe Houston is his preferred destination. And yeah, maybe this has no bearing on a Melo move. But my whole logic was the Knicks aren't moving on a trade with us, and as the summer drags on more things change and places open up. Yes I understand Melo has a no trade clause, but it goes both ways. New York don't have to trade him to us. And in a situation like that I always believed Melo is more likely to fold (expand his list) because simply put, Knicks can't afford to take on Ryno or whatever garbage package was probably proposed.

That's just it though, places haven't opened up, if anything Kyrie wanting out eliminated one of the 2 options they previously had.

dude getting rid of capela does not automatically mean we get lebron. Capela for melo doesn't make sense for us.

if morey though trading capela = lebron then i promise you that he will do it for sure. he is weighing different risks and options right now.

The possibility of moving Kyrie (Cleveland's only shot creator outside of LBJ) or Lebron himself shifts the entire balance of power in the NBA. If Cleveland is dismantled there is hardly a contender in the East (Boston is the legitimate 2nd tier team).

If either of those guys make their way West, things get even more ridiculous.

It's hard to gauge what Melo or the Knicks are thinking about this until something further shakes out.

Cleveland will likely ask for Melo and Ntilikina and a 1st rounder

In my opinion, I can absolutely see a Kyrie for Melo trade happening. I hope I am wrong. Do I think that it would be a smart move for Cleveland? Definitely not, but I can see them doing it as a last gasp effort to keep Lebron.

For Kyrie? That would be a terrible return for the Cavs given that Kyrie is in his prime, under team control for several years, and doesn't have a NTC so you could trade him anywhere.

Jesus y'all are in some sort of weird denial. No where did I say I thought that was a championship team. No where did I say I knew exactly what lebron or melo are thinking. Y'all are basically making my point for me. We know a few FACTS that I already pointed out. And as of right now those facts haven't been refuted. Based on those FACTS, one absolutely has to see a melo for kyrie trade as a legitimate, plausible scenario.

Lebron is still the single biggest influencer in the cavs organization. The knicks are still completely underwhelmed w our initial offer. kyrie or no, melo and lebron are still incredibly close. And the cavs can certainly still make other moves to round out that roster.

Damn near everything else y'all are saying is pure postulation.

That first round pick might end up pretty high, too, judging by how Irving's teams have played before LeBron's arrival and whenever LeBron sits out a game.

Yes but the knicks would much rather talk to Cleveland........ one of the teams Melo already signed off on....... and talk about a Kyrie return as opposed to the crap we are offering New York for Melo......... if I'm the knicks GM I'm sending houston to voicemail at this point...... I only want to talk to Cleveland and see what we can square dance with ....... Kyrie makes us irrelevant in the conversation in my opinion........ Melo and Lebron still win the east by a long slide and get to the finals to play the warriors...... they won't win but they will run thru the east and coming here don't gurantee nothing either as stacked as the west is ......... so Melo is essentially picking between playing with Chris or Lebron....... both his BFF's

People in hell would much rather be in Maui but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

The Cavs can get MUCH better value for Kyrie than an over the hill guy the Knicks are desperately wanting to dump who isn't even a fit on their team to begin with....you'd have Lebron at SF, Love at PF and Melo.....doing what?

At this point, the Cavs probably aren't even a team Melo is willing to waive his NTC for anymore, so if they send Houston to voicemail.....well they don't have anyone else they can trade with.

Even if we assume that Melo is still willing to waive his NTC for Cleveland, the Knicks would have to offer Porzingis to even start that conversation. They'll be able to get a MUCH better return elsewhere.

I officially have no idea what any of this means. Reading this board just has me more confused and feeling dumber by the moment. Wake me up a week from now.

It's crazy how an unlikely predicament somehow happens to come and ruin our chances

    Typical luck of rockets
