Kyrie has a ring so he doesn't need to take crap from Lebron anymore since he knows he took the trophy home + the way they got dealt with by the Warriors he knows they won't win anyway. Also their front office situation partly due to Lebron is a cluster****!!

I won't be surprised if the Spurs trade for him. But I wonder why he wants to leave the Cavs?

I can see this happening. Knicks don't get ****ed this way and technically, Melo gets to play to with Lebron

    Seriously?

Because LeBron is going to be packing up and leaving soon enough........... Cleveland is dysfunctional and are in a bad position long term.

Oh no! I hope the Spurs trade Aldridge and picks for Irving. I don't want Melo going to the Cavs, he's ours to keep!

No doubt the Knicks want to get Kyrie for Melo. The problems with this are:

    1) Cavs can get better offers for Kyrie, who is only 25 and does NOT have a no trade clause so they can shop him to all teams in the league.

    2) Not sure Melo would even want to go to Cleveland. No Kyrie there and maybe no LeBron there either in a year. LeBron doesn't sound too engaged with the franchise and likely isn't working as hard as a recruiter as CP is.

Looks like 33 year old melo wants to win at this point in his career and he wants to join the best available team that gives him a shot at that. So many years wasted in ny.

If that's true, then that is a punk move by LeBron. Seriously f**k LeBron and Durant. Biggest pu***** the NBA ever had.

Problem is Kyrie doesn't control his destiny beyond this point. He knows Lebron wants out, and that Cavs roster without Lebron will be a bunch of parts that make no sense without James with long-term contracts and they have no picks.

A year from now when James bounces, Kyrie can't demand a trade because Cleveland will have zero motivation to trade him since they'll have Thompson, Korver, JR Smith and Love locked in through 2020 with zero picks. Cavs will just be motivated to make the playoffs and that will be enough for Gilbert to keep business operating smoothly post-James and not have another fallout like in 2010.

But, Kyrie can stir the pot now because the Cavs / James still want to compete for RIGHT NOW and if Kyrie isn't on board with the program, its just going to be a disaster of a year for Cleveland. Kyrie has excellent leverage now to get off the train before it becomes a total wreck after James leaves.

    You a Spurs fan?

Also Cavs would have the softest frontcourt of all time.

    Agreed.

This is too random. The warriors will still be a problem wherever he ends up.

Why would you give up Irving for Anthony? Carmelo has peaked. LeBron probably has peaked. Kyrie is at his peak.

    Windhorst:

We're finding about this today but Cavs have known for more than a week. LeBron has known for more than a week. Kyrie signed this contract in 2014, before LeBron. He was presented a scenario where we'll build around you. You'll be our Steve Nash. ... In the wake of David Griffin leaving, he's decided he doesn't want to go the LeBron route anymore.

Nobody knows what LeBron will do a year from now.

His number one idol, the man he respects above all besides his father, is Kobe Bryant. When they won a year ago, he came back to the locker room & facetimed Kobe. He sees himself in the mold of Kobe. This isn't Kobe-Shaq but thought it could be something down the line.

    Cavs have 3 options:
Not trade him. He's under contract for 2 more years.
Trade him for young players & picks
    Trade him for veterans

Cavs have known this for 7-8-10 days and haven't traded him.

He's consulted Kobe on everything he's done. This probably didn't catch Kobe by surprise. This did catch LeBron by surprise.

Where does it leave Kyrie-LeBron relationship?

Wherever he gets traded, we may have a new Christmas day game. Is playing with LeBron easy? No, but most teams would tell you the positives outweigh the negative. Yes, he can subtweet you, bark at you in the huddle, feel like you're lower than you are. LeBron & Kyrie spoke positively about each other in June. There are quotes from Kyrie in June.

I'm puzzled by the timing. We're 4-5 weeks off how he embraced this situation.

Kyrie's list - MIA, SA, NY, MIN

The Warriors & Celtics are ordering champagne. Kyrie won't get a say in this. He has 2 years left. Whoever gets him knows they'll have him for awhile. There are 300 trades they could consider. Kyrie is a valuable trade asset. Cavs can go anywhere they want.

    Woj:

Where is Kyrie coming from with this?

Trade request is related to LeBron but not because of LeBron. Kyrie sees the situation where LeBron is uncommitted past 2017. There is a team here built to play with LeBron, slower & in the half court. Ball isn't in his hands. If LeBron leaves, goes somewhere else, he'll be left behind with a team that doesn't fit him. Sources say his focus is trying to be proactive with his own career. When he signed his extension, LeBron wasn't there. If LeBron was committed going forward, this probably wouldn't be happening right now.

    Teams?

Way too early to lay out the most likely place. He has no say. If Cleveland does a deal, they need the best possible return. Spurs have been on his mind. That's a situation that intrigues him, potentially with Kawhi. There are other teams he's open to. I was told in the meeting with the Cavs, there were different scenarios discussed but he doesn't have a NTC. Cavs are already entertaining calls.
