Melo better be reeeeealll tight with Lebron. Cavs are looking dysfunctional and I'm not sure how you make a lineup with lebron, melo, and love work.
Kyrie Irving is under contract for 2 more seasons (3rd year player option). He is 25 years old and doesn't have a no-trade clause. Cleveland doesn't have to trade him if they don't want to. They certainly don't have to take a lesser return (like 33-year-old Melo) for him. If Cleveland does make the deal, NYK will have to give up substantial assets, like future picks and their new draftee Ntilikina in addition to Carmelo.
Report: Kyrie Irving wants to be traded to the Spurs http://www.kens5.com/sports/nba/spurs/report-kyrie-irving-wants-to-be-traded-to-the-spurs/458605876 rumors all over the place... sorry for the large bolded text
I think this is all Lebron, he's trying to makes the Cavs implode so he can join the Rockets this season without waiting one year
you're talking about a young PG that locked up for 3 years with HUGE finals experience and hitting BIG shots in them... this isn't your average star on the market
Not only the SPurs, also Miami, Minnesota and NY... Oh, and btw he has still 3 years left on his contract so the Cavs can trade him where they want.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7h9absd Rockets get: Carmelo Anthony Knicks get: Kyrie Irving Cavs get: Eric Bledsoe, Willy Hernangomez, Chinanu Onuaku, NYK 2018 1st round pick, HOU 2019 2nd round pick Suns get: Ryan Anderson, Non-guarantees, HOU 2020 1st round pick
Naw. Kyrie is locked in for two more years and doesn't have a NTC. He's going to the highest bidder and can't really bully his way somewhere.
I've been a spurs fan long enough to know the spurs are never in these types of deals... but hey why not hope!
If Melo gets traded to the Cavs, they can just wait till next off-season and sign CP3 strait up in Clevelend. They they can finally get CP3, Melo and Lebron in Cleveland.
Not going to read through 10 pages worth of comments so apologize if this was debunked. This on Lebron and not committing long term with the organization. I can see from his side that he wants to stay competitive till the end, but it makes other players lukewarm to commit long term to a team that may not have the player you came to play with the next year.
Melo can still rescind the NTC waiver on Cleveland, right? I don't see how Melo wants to join LBJ with Kylie gone since that combo just proved it can't beat a KD equipped dubs team. Nor do I see Kyrie as being enough for him to stay in NY. Melo is still BFFs with CP3 and there are two very likely HOFers here for the long run. But if he can't rescind as part of the "agreement" he had claimed to have made, then this is no longer i his court. Knicks would just have to make the salaries work...
They would not be able to create space to sign cp3 unless he was playing for 5 million the next three years lol
You can still hope Lebron really wants to stay in Cleveland and the Cavs are dumb enough to deal Irving for LMA thinking LMA is the key to a championship formula
