I respect him more now; knowing he can keep a long term commitment and appears to be a family man. I wish him only he best and another 20+ years.
I'm waiting for sports center breaking news: Knicks have agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony to Houston for MKG,Lamb, Onuaku, non guarantees and and 2020 1st. The Rockets are sending Ryan Anderson to Charlotte. Stephen A Smith comes back from vacation and literally speaks of being done with knicks. But is happy for Melo. Knicks get a solid return back. And we all finally stop making Carmelo threads
if Carmelo comes here there will be no end to Carmelo threads. In 30 years @tinman will be making retrospective Carmelo threads while bashing LOFs in the DISH
i don't see anything wrong with that. especially the LOF part. It's like beating the odds; perhaps like surviving a serious disease. you should feel justified in sharing that well into the future.
I bet the package will be quite different than that and probably cause some debate on if it was worth it.
Morey probably offering Ryno, NG's and no picks. Just hope he doesn't get too cute with his lowballing.
It's not lowballing, it's assigning a value limit. Giving up Anderson plus any other core player is too high an asking price for the Rockets and therefore, not worth it. My bet is that Morey is perfectly happy going into this season with the roster we currently have already. It's a very strong contender level roster. Melo is a huge upgrade to Anderson, but a downgrade for Anderson + Ariza/Capela/Ego.
I agree, but you run the risk of Cleveland finally deciding to offer something better or Melo expanding his trade team list. I don't want to give up any other starters either, but a future pick or 1 of our euros is different.
The only way Cleveland gets Melo is if they offer up at least Love, which for them would be a sidegrade. It isn't about giving up other starters, but rather giving up too much. The point of any trade for us at this time is to get better short term. Trading only Anderson does that. Throwing in Ariza/Ego/Capela would be a step backwards, hence no point. If its not possible to flip Melo for Anderson, then there is no point in trading for Melo.
Probably included Euros (Llull + Todorovic as well) Current offer something like: Ryno + (Quarterman, Long) + Llull + Todorovic If the Knicks were smart (which they don't appear to be), I would hold for protected 1st (smart thing to do), but then turn around to send Ryno out to DET (Tobias + Ish Smith) or POR (Harkless + Leonard) or PHO (Knight + TJ Warren) or OKC (Kanter + McDermott) or SAC (Koufos + Temple). My point is that they could even wait until later in the season and get some return rather than all the MELO-DRAMA
I never said anything about "other starters", only picks and held-rights players overseas. The longer this drags on the more chance there is for something to change/go wrong. If a pick or a euro-stash is all it takes I say get it done and be safe.
