Nice way to offset some luxury tax cost. Could easily raise about $120 million in revenue that goes straight to the team. Sure they have to pay it back, but it's 30 years later. Time value of money makes that a GREAT deal. I expect the Rockets to do something like this on a smaller scale (lower demand for tickets)

The raiders and panthers are the OG of modern day PSLs.

Pay money for the right to pay more money

I don't know why anyone would buy one

I get why if you can resell them, and moreso for football. I don't get why in this case, when you can't sell them for more than cost.

One of my few regrets is not buying Texans PSL's at original cost. Those tickets are $$ makers.

It would seem like a poor business decision to finance a stadium on your own. Is it? I mean they already drag home 90% of the revenues from the stadium. And then they are going to pay back the PSL's too. Are there successful models for financing your own stadium and coming out better in the end?

Because you HAVE to if you want season tickets.

Nobody WANTS to pay the PSL.

Yep, some guy I buy regular season tickets from was selling his PSLs for 25k... I was like, "oh hell no!" but some other pile of money bags will. Those things are worth more than my vehicle.

Another upshot. No more scalping. This becomes like a software license, seeing that this is silicon valley after all.

Season ticket holders can still scalp tickets, but they can't scalp the PSL. In fact, this might actually encourage season ticket holders to scalp more tickets throughout the season in order to help offset the cost of the PSL.

I don't follow football so I'm not very familiar with the model. It sounds like a scam to me though. And another milestone in making the league a venue only for rich people.

Yes, they've been doing it in the NFL for years. Big time scam but people keep buying.
