If we were being aggressive, we would have thrown in Ego/Capela already. The fact that we aren't and both teams are looking for a 3rd or 4th wheel strongly suggests that Morey has decided on what value he is willing to give up for Melo and won't budge.
Timberwolves have a lot of nice young talent, but zero players that are of any real threat from deep.
I don't think they are either, but I honestly do think people underestimate how much better Wiggins and Towns can still be..You just never know, they are soo young and just a matter of time before they click, plus they added Jimmy, Teague and Gibson...
wiggins, towns, teague and butler all shoot above 36% from three. Most of those guys have continually improved since entering the league and may continue to do so.
36% is not a shooter IMO. That just means they can hit at just barely a respectable rate. I am talking about players who can potentially reach the mystical 40% mark. Teague, Wiggins, Crawford, Butler, and even Harden of late are all mediocre 3pt shooters. You can't leave them wide open, but it's not something to write home about either.
Since when is 36% bad? Crawford is getting older and his problem is not his 3 its chucking in general, especially when he gets inside. Face it, the wolves could be 2nd depending on how much their main 2 guys improve. Butler has also continue to get better and now he is playing next to talent.
It's not only the percentage but how you get that percentage. The guys on the Wolves don't command the gravity that actual elite shooters do.
Honestly, if you leave them open they will beat you. They are good enough to make the percentage needed to win.
Why do you want Melo to start at the 3? He is no longer able to play the 3, he is a 4, especially in MDA's system. Besides, if Melo DID start at the 3 who will start at the 4 with Ryno traded? Melo is and always will be a 4 on this Rockets team. Don't even see him playing spot minutes at the 3. And losing Ariza just to get Green makes no sense. Ariza is a critical piece on this team, on and off the court.
F the Knicks and their delay tactics. Morey needs to shift focus. Trade Anderson, Gordon, Capela, picks or whatever else you need to the failing Tennessee bear team for Marc Gasol.
