I would be careful building my team around Nursekic if I was Blazers. Given Blazer's history with big men, Nursekic going down this season. You heard it here first. He is already rehabbing a leg injury this off season. Lulz...
Just sounds like they're being confident that they'll eventually convince Melo to go there. He clearly hasn't added Potland to his "list" as of yet though. Honestly, I wouldn't care that much if he went to Portland. Maybe top 5/6 seed at best.
If Portland has a big 3, NOLA has a big 4 lol Davis > Lilly Cousins > Nurkic Holiday = CJ Rondo > the rest of their roster Melo to NOLA for Hill + Moore to form a big 5 confirmed.
We actually added more than just Gordon, we added Lou Williams, ANDERSON, and Nene. Say what you will about Anderson's contract, he was a great fit for this offense with his 3 pt shooting. Gutted our depth? We gave up a 2nd string PG and a few guys that barely played last year. In fact it was less than you would have to give up to get Melo. We went from 8th seed to 3rd seed, you went from 5th seed to 8th. Adding the "best center since Hakeem" barely got you guys into the playoffs. You are headed the wrong direction and have been since you lost Aldridge. Love, Same amount of playoff wins as the Knicks last year.
Would be an intriguing choice for Melo to join the Blazers not sure why people would downplay the possibility of this happening...getting to play with Dame and CJ is way better than being stuck in NY, makes Portland a slight threat in the West imo
Holiday doesn't = CJ. You underrate CJ. CJ absolutely could be the third best player on a legit title team. Holiday most likely couldn't be (depending on how good the top two are.) The problem is that Lillard really isn't good enough to be the best player on a title team. You have two guys in "Lilly" (lol) and "CJ" that are good enough to be part of a big 3 but they can't be the best part.
Agree to disagree here, CJ is definitely a better shooter and probably the better offensive palyer overall, even though Holiday is still a better passer, but Holiday is also twice the defender CJ is, if the Blazers are literally the worst defensive backcourt in the league it's not just because of Lillard. I agree with you on the bold part btw.
I think Portland could get to the level where we were at last year at best if Lillard, CJ, Melo, and Nurkic clicks. Then Melo would opt out, leave them, and come to Houston to play with CP3 and Harden.
I like Jrue a lot and wanted him here for years, but Jrue is not a special offensive player and he's not a special defensive player. He's a positive on both ends of the court but he's not elite on either one. CJ is certainly a bad defender but he's an ELITE offensive player. If you are building a big 3 its better to have an elite player with a deficiency than a guy who just isn't elite at anything. Now you are right that you probably can't win with both of those guys in the back court being that bad together. They aren't a great fit together as part of a big 3 (Lilly and CJ that is) but either one of them could absolutely be part of a big 3. Jrue couldn't be. Also to be clear, CJ would be the worst part of any big 3. You'd need a big 3 that included two really elite players + him, not 3 guys on his level.
I see that you're a bit lost. Allow me to help. This time of year is called "the offseason". During the off-season, we must project how teams will fare given their trajectories and moves made. The 3rd place Rockets acquired hall of fame point-guard Chris Paul, moving MVP candidate James Harden back to shooting guard duties. It is now up to other teams to make a case on how they will beat the Rockets for the 2nd seed, this upcoming season. The Spurs cast around Kawhi has done nothing but wilt and grow a year older. I already said in another thread that I'll put $50 in the Clutchfans tipjar if the Spurs finish top 3 next year. The Portland Trailblazers have not made a significant move, and are hoping the maturation of some young players helps them do better than eek out an 8th seed against Denver. It is not rational to suggest that adding an all-star to an 8th seed team will make them better than the 3rd place team acquiring that same all-star (while also acquiring a hall-of-famer). Secondly, consider that using the Spurs to argue against the Rockets is not favorable to Portland. Is this helping you understand? Don't reply too quickly, just think about it for a while. This kind of stuff can be hard for people who aren't used to putting all of the pieces of logic together. Now, when discussing how teams will finish next year, it isn't wise to focus on one game, as any one game can be influenced by a number of factors that aren't indicative of how that team will perform next season. Analysis like "Hahahahahaha!" is compelling, but not useful. Please let me know if I can help further.
Oh wow. The crazy Portland resident made another appearance. I guess his BF was busy last night, or he went on a date, got drunk and was turned down by Bubba so he took his weak ass aggression out on CF. What a winner!
Blazers forum is like a train wreck... I just can't look away despite how hard it is to watch. Apparently we've gutted our team for CP3, they keep talking about games where other teams beat us a whole series further into the playoffs than them, and keep repeating "Knicks just need to tell Melo - it's here or Portland because no one wants our old guys like Gordon, and Capela sucks"
Yao and ron artest schooled yall in the playoffs. Dont disrespect the yao. 9-9 from the floor 6-6 from the line in only 24 minutes and a blowout in portland. How did your guys get blown out at home in a playoff game?
