The thing I like most about how Maori seems to operate: He doesn't appear to get all emotional about possible good or bad outcomes until they become a reality one way or the other. If a deal is still possible, he seems to continue pragmatically investigating all avenues that might make it happen. Having someone so smart and even-tempered as GM is a huge asset to this team.
Value is decided by the market. If not a single team is offering ish for Melo, then yes, his value is trash.
Well if he didn't have a NTC or expanded his list they'd very likely get better offers. Right now there is a market of one and the one team doesn't have anything worth a damn to offer. If he said "sure, I'll go to Houston, Portland, the Clippers, the Nuggets, the Heat, the Wizards, etc." the Knicks would definitely get something worthwhile for him. But that's not happening so they can either decide to take back a pittance or they can hold him for a year and let him walk for nothing.
La La Anthony asked about rumors of Melo going to Houston: "I'm not moving anywhere. I am New York, born and bred, and I will be staying here."
Melo for Anderson, NGs, Llul, Gentile, Hartenstein, a first and a 2nd. Or offer that to another team for one of their assets.
That's correct, but only in regards to his trade value. His actual value as a player depends greatly on what teammates he's surrounded by and what system they're playing in. I've got to think that his actual value would go up drastically on an offense-oriented team in which he's the second or third option, with a coach that encourages his players to play freely and indulge their talents rather than restrict them. If only there were a situation like that today, on a team that actively wants to add someone like Carmelo...
Meh, she's almost completely used up at 38, Melo could easily find a more attractive version of her that is in their 20's and isn't such a selfish *******.
All of this is part of the value though. He's made a sound decision and we are probably the only team in the running, which completely tanks the value in any trade talks.
Sure his performance value on the court is way higher and it's pretty obvious that we highly value him. Still doesn't help the Knicks though, if there's a NTC, he's not helping their rebuilding plans and he's only interested in playing for us. Really the perfect situation for Darryl Murray.
Teams aren't offering because of him not waiving the clause. Yes that makes it harder for NY, doesn't equal worth taking on long bad contracts
[Lowe Post] Zach Lowe talks to ESPN's Ian Begley and Bleacher Report's Howard Beck about some Carmelo Anthony trade scenarios, the state of the Knicks, and much more. Can anyone TL;DH please?
Isn't it AWESOME for the Rockets to be the team in this situation for once? The biggest prize still on the market has told his team to trade him to US. And we have a GM we can trust not to totally eff that up. Aside from Les's recent announcement, it's a great time to be a Rox fan.
