fwiw: A 3-yr version of the contract we gave Tucker would have barely been more than the 76ers ...

3yrs for $23,226,578 -- Interesting. Of course, it could have been PJ Tucker's actual contract of 4yrs for $31m.

Sounds like it was Redick versus PJ Tucker's salary, since we had no other way to sign him outright for that much, after the Paul trade.

I'm thinking we may have offered him the full four year MLE minus the minimum for Joe Chee. He was obviously smart to decline it for a 1 year $20+ million deal.

In what plane? JJ is a better off the ball player but there is no way in hell he is a better overall player

nm -- misread. Yeah, we probably offered him identical to Tucker. But at Redick's age, maybe just the 3yr with team option for 4.

I said the MLE minus the minimum for Zhou. Basically the same contract Tucker got but probably fully guaranteed.

In all honesty, I think I'm good with having Tucker instead of Redick if that was indeed the choice. Tucker just gives us more defensive versatility.....especially in combination with Mbah a Moute. Add Carmelo to the mix, and that's a team that can give Golden State fits on the defensive side of the ball with our flexibility.

btw: the math I used is actually from Tucker's contract. It isn't Full MLE, as I incorrectly stated, forgetting about Zhou's portion. The number I posted is from Spotrac adding up Tucker's first three years ($23,226,578 slightly higher than 76ers), and $31m is the total for four.

This is from someone who listened to the podcast. Redick apparently made it sound like a 3yr offer for "stability" was not on the table, meaning he also would have accepted a longer contract (but for guaranteed money) with a contender over faster money with 76ers, apparently.

Guess we offered a 3yr deal for Tucker money at $23,226,578, but with no guarantee on the 3rd year. It's too coincidental that 76ers signed him for $23m. He must have said, you have to match total money, but all guaranteed.

JJ would've been good but I'd like Tucker more for our team.

JJ Reddick is the Ryan Anderson of shooting guards. We don't need to overpay for role players that wouldn't even start.

Those things don't make sense together.

We couldn't have offered more than $23 million over two years to him.

Who cares, it's over now. Redick is a bit better than Gordon, but we are already loaded in the backcourt.

It doesn't say that. It just says he didn't have an offer of stability, which must mean guaranteed money.

3yr deal for $23,226,578 but Team Option for 3rd year, would qualify as not enough stability.
