Disagree - maybe not for most super rich people, but Houston is a much better city for young super rich athletes than it probably is for old super rich execs and the like.

This - I don't think a lot of posters here realize how much NBA players love Houston. You're not going to get every free agent no matter who you are, there are 29 other teams. But to act like the Rockets haven't gotten their fair share of FA's over the years is ridiculous.

Nobody is talking about energy. I strictly asked our market size in the nba/sports world. You added jobs and energy and metro. You are replying to a different question and adding stuff not related when I was quite clear on the comparison to the sports world. Everyone knows Htown is huge but I was curious on the attractiveness to FA. The big names to be clear. So great job on your literally dumb assumptions of adding non related stuff. No one here is debating how big of a population we have. Dafak? Who the hell called this a small market city?? Wasnt even a option on the poll. Adding so much unnecessary crap

Just in the last 15 years.

Yao, McGrady, Harden, Howard, Paul, Carmelo and Bosh have all given their stamp of approval to playing in Houston.

We lost out on Bosh because he was going to Miami all along, nobody had a chance, he just wanted his ass kissed. He was going to sign here the second time but Miami offered him a full max deal, something we were legally incapable of matching. Carmelo stayed with the Knicks for the same reason. Star players have repeatedly show that they are more than willing to play here if the on court product is good.

As far as market goes, we are closer to top 5 than we are to 15th, so I would call us more large than medium.

Free agents bro. Bosh used us, twice. Melo used us. Names are coming up because of who we got now but otherwise they didnt want to come here. We were leverage. Was Melo waiving his cluase pre Harden/Paul? No to the no.

HowArd is the only name we got in FA time

The fact is we only say, oh he would have signed here if not for so and so based on bias-ness. But the only true fact is they didnt sign here. No assumptions. No if that and this.

Who are all of these other moving big name Free Agents that we missed? And yes, nobody wants to sign up for a mediocre basketball team, when we were winning 41 games with a bunch or role players we weren't exactly a destination club. Nobody wanted to play for Cleveland or GS for years.

We got Dwight, we missed Bosh and Melo. That's not some long line of guys that said f**k Houston.

Star level free agents don't change teams very often.

Right, of course not. You have a small group of cities (sports cities here, not all cities) that are ideal locations. Miami, LA, NY.
When Melo was a free agent he met with us, but we didn't make his final decision list. It was between staying in NY for the most money and joining the Bulls.

It's all about perspective. People here fixate on NY and LA too much.

Greater Houston population is around 6 million.

Greater Salt Lake population: 1 million. (Entire state of Utah: 3 million.)
    Phoenix: 4.5 million.
    San Antonio: 1.5 million.
    Memphis: 1.3 million.

    All of these together? Houston.

You called it a medium market. And I did say NBA players like Houston nightlife.

    This guy seems #Butthurt

And I still say its medium. You brought up small....... then you bring up me saying its medium like I was hiding that fact. Your points have been all over the place. The topic is simple. Do stars find us appealing. Bosh? X2. Melo. We got Howard. Was anyone trying to come prior?

What I see from you is all you got is throwing insults out. Your first post and now this. Its whatever man, do you

Not just about who we missed on for trying, other stars we didnt try for didnt even mention us as interested. Not just who we strike out on. To me, if we were a top five destination, we would be brought up more. Period. Lakers are still getting talked about, PG wise and they suck arse

We're not the Lakers, just like the Astros aren't the Yankees. The most glamorous teams in the NBA are the Lakers, Knicks and whatever team LeBron is on. These 3 will demand attention from any free agent.

Then there is a second tier of the NBA hierarchy is that is determined by what major cities are currently fielding the best teams. We are high in that group right now with Golden St. currently being at the top.

Then there is the lowest tier of places where no NBA player wants to go (Charlotte, Minnesota, Utah etc.). We most certainly aren't in this group.

Is that because of the leftover Yao fans staying loyal, or have the new Rockets (Harden, Ariza, Capela, etc) won over Chinese fans on their own??
