Bregmans been watching Tuve and learning; hes gone up, attacked the first pitch and got a hit a few times now.
This has gotta be one of Hoyt's make-or-break appearances.... especially with guys coming back from the DL.
While these mistakes are not going to cost us a playoff berth, they sure could bite us in the ass in the postseason. Are there any coachable points here? Can these mistakes be overcome through afternoon baserunning drills & clinics during the regular season? I really don't know enough about coaching and daytime routine in the MLB to say. Reportedly, a big reason why Hal Lanier was not asked to continue as manager of the Astros was that he was a hardass on the guys when they made errors and baserunning mistakes. Apparently some people felt he was overbearing and/or disrespectful of highly-paid athletes. I don't mind the disciplinarian approach myself so long as it doesn't risk injury and the players are on board with recognizing that they are making correctable mistakes.
