If the long winter is here what are the odds the Bay of Seals by Eastwatch is frozen over? And if so, couldn't the WW just walk across as opposed to having to go through the wall?

No way. Too easy. They would have to storm through Castle Black and have Jon retreat to regroup with other powers.

Sansa has been saving Jon's self-righteous Ned like ass...dude needs to take a chill pill.

Also can't stand Sam and the citadel stuff.

GARM's analogy would be whining about Dwight. He's [was] #2 but we were reminded every game how much he sucks. Pivotal players are expect to perform. There are those who appreciate the quality of GOT translated from book to screen and recognize that Daenarys was written as one of the most compelling characters. For show watchers only, they only see 'Clarke sucks' and 'Dany's story line is stale and boring'. Daenarys story line should be one of the most interesting. GoT's driving point is character development, not simpleminded drama, gore, sex, violence, ect ... There are those who are extremely disappointed that Clarke has totally destroyed Dany's storyline. When Hodor outperforms you, that is pretty bad.

    I liked the whole episode.

But I think I the tv landscape has changed such that I'm not as excited about new episodes or anything. And the show has kind of dragged. There's a sense of will the white walkers ever get there, are we still dealing with cersei, will the story ever conclude...? Lol. It's nitpicking. Loved the episode just not as in love with the show and story as I once was. Too much good tv

Don't forget in the Astros forum, they are boring because they are too good.

I just rewatched The Professional. Although, I do remember liking that movie, in large part, because of the girl actress, I totally forgot Natalie Portman was that 11 yr old girl. Want a freaking amazing talent she was from the very beginning.

She's my favorite actress right now. But it is universally recognized that Padma Amidala sucked and was "stale and boring." Clearly, it wasn't due to Natalie's acting ability....or was it? Let's argue, was it Natalie not caring, or was it the writing/directing?

No, actually, let's no argue that. :)

I wouldn't (yet) say that Emilia Clarke sucks, but she does pose weird. Whether on her large ship sailing to Dragonstone or standing outside that burning Dothraki hut, she just looks weird. Like she doesn't know how to stand still.

I felt like it was a reset. They've been off for what...2 years? Kind of reset the stage, the players and the positions. Didn't make many moves...didn't have to I don't think. It probably would've been exciting to see them lopping off heads and using gallons upon gallons of pig's blood again but I think that would've ruined the rest of the season...They slowed-played it. They just started the engine back on and revved it up once or twice. No need to drag race.

that smile on littlefingers face when sansa was arguing with jon...then he asks her if she is happy. she obviously hates him, but littflinger has definitely planted some seeds. they are not bro-and-sis or even halfs, but rather cousins...that could come into play too if there is a power struggle.

i think the sheeran cameo worked about as well as a celebrity cameo can.

he looks like a 17 year old boy-next-door. even his tattoos are totally non-threatening...if they had used him as some gruff, fighter/killer it would not have worked, but i think he was perfectly cast for that role. he was a likeable, boyish soldier who was singing songs with his friends and missing home. even though they are lannister soldiers, as a viewer i was not wanting arya to kill them (which she could have easily done). i think having sheeran there worked on that level.

I didn't have any problems with the episode or pace or anything. In fact unlike apparently many, I really really liked the Sam scenes (and that character generally) and don't have that many problems with Emilia Clark.

I'm just speaking to the overall anticipation / excitement / care level. It's just not what it once was. I can't pinpoint exactly why but suspect it has to do with the changing tv landscape, all the great tv out there now, and how long this show has gone on, with so many storylines, yet so few episodes per season ...

I mean all shows can get stale after a while. I wouldn't call this stale by any stretch but to me it is starting to get that smell just a little bit. Same with House of Cards for example - watched the new season but nothing stood out as super amazing about it.

I mean I could see myself not watching these shows as they come out and waiting to binge watch them. Wouldn't have said that in the past. I mean not that hey are comparable by any means in terms of overall quality of show, but I suspect at the end of the day I will get similar enjoyment from binge watching new seasons of The Flash and Arrow on Netflix - it's not Amazon storytelling as noted but they give you 23 episodes of care free fun tv.

And an aside ... when was the last time a real key, good guy type character died? I mean I know lots of characters died in the keep last year ... but seems like we haven't had a major character death in quite a while.

Oh one more follow up. I have no problem with and actually like Ed Sheeran. Don't really know his songs much or anything but seems like a solid, down to earth type musical megastar.

And he wasn't bad in that scene. Or good - other than his singing.

But I don't get it. Why do it as producers of the show? It diminishes the show just from what it is - giving cameos to random celebrity non actors. It's like someone called in a favor.

I think a cameo from a legit actor could be pretty neat. You know like if Tom Hanks randomly popped up in one episode and just killed his scene. Or benecio Del Toro or DDL (though I guess he retired?!?).

And this, I suspect, along with the actors themselves ready to move on, is a large reason HBO will end the show in 12 more episodes. Even a great thing can wear thin. I'm still a big fan, and want to see where all this goes, and wonder if GRRM will finish the books before he emits a "gurgle" and slumps face-first on his computer keyboard, and how what he writes will differ from the TV show that has outpaced him....but I can keep my emotions in check about the show now.

Then again, maybe the show takes a back seat to the Melo-drama, which could drag on into October for all I know.

I really wish they hadn't squandered season 5 and 6 with Arya.

She's right where I felt she always should be, but because her training was so underdeveloped on screen her being this awesome assassin feels out of nowhere. Just a little actual faceless men training, instead of a half season of washing dead bodies would have gone a long way. This might have worked better in the book where they had more time to flesh out the training, but on TV it was just poorly done. Not to mention the still ridiculous knife in the gut scene.

Still have enjoyed her last 2 scenes, but would have felt much more satisfying with a proper build.

She could have been Queen of the North . . . Little Finger tried to push her into it . .. she deferred to Jon
    Little Finger indicated that it was a mistake .. . . . .
Jon shutting her down was an indication that she went from being important . . to 'Shut Up Stupid Woman'
    with no power . . . .
As much as people hate Little Finger he was right .. . . and he saved their asses .. . .
and he is the sole source of power that Sansa has at this point
The feeling is her sway over him keeps his armies there. . . .
