he can toss his hat in all he wants, unless somebody with a much greater net worth than him wants to bring him along as a minority owner it doesn't matter
finding eager prospective buyers is not going to be a problem for les. finding buyers who the league office will approve is the issue
I think Ford Motor Credit used to own the Astros. Great owners, hired Tal Smith and stayed out of the way. Don't know if they bought the team or "took it back".

my bad...so busy workin didn.t see that in fact the Roxs are on the Block ! future owners ?.......somebody who created an app probably....lol
Friedkin would be amazeballs for me personally. I could end up an insider when all is said and done. Check the tape, I broke the naming of Toyota Center on this site. Long ago.
if all the fans want Yao to be the owner, it is feasible. Yao currently owns Shanghai Sharks (CBA) Team, but he has to sell it, because he is now the president of Chinese Basketball Association (state owned). There is contradictory of interests for these two organizations. after selling Shanghai Sharks, he can then organize and purchase Rockets. Owning Rockets will benefit both the Houston City and as well the Chinese basketball development. this is actually partnership between USA and China. However, the fact is that he can not afford 1.6 Billion USD to buy Rockets, needs to line up other investors. there are a bunch of Chinese investor outa there. Wanda, Ever Grand, Alibaba, etc, all with great sports interests, especially with Rockets seen as a Chinese home team.
Will the Commish and the League owner allow a Chinese buyer with 100% ownership? So far, they have only allowed small chinese ownership in the Twolves and Cavs, less than 15% ownership
Why wouldn't they? They allowed a 80% stake to Russian ownership with the Prokhorov/Nets sale. China is a massive source of revenue. Adam Silver also wants to expand actual NBA teams to other cities in other countries, Mexico City could be in the cards eventually.
I don't know if it's been stated, but Fertitta lost out to Alexander back in 1993 to buy the Rockets.
