I dont think this changes anything.... basketball is till basketball... Dm is still the GM, and Mike is still the coach...and the team and players are still the same..... this is just business. For now.... sooo yes.

It's honestly a fair question. CP3 may be wondering what the future of the Rockets holds now and all of his commitment to the team long term is potentially up in the air. Is he asking the same questions we are asking? Is he wondering what this means for him getting a super max? About the next owner paying the luxury tax? About the coach/GM situation long term?

If CP3 is unsure now what does that mean about Melo?

 

Good thing about the insane valuation is that the new owner will almost have to be cash rich. Silver and the NBA aren't going to approve a large group of small % owners in this big of a transaction (ala Ranadive).

Except there is a big wrinkle thrown in right now. You have no idea what the next ownership will look like and players have seen that ownership changes can bring craziness. Forget everything about this situation being great right now. The stability, the willingness to pay star players and treat them right, etc. that was all under Les. You don't know what the future holds. Guys who want Tillman? Imagine having an owner who goes on tirades because the star player didn't perform on a certain night.

 

He just signed an extension. Doubt he's concerned.

Shocking and bad news!

New owners almost always want to bring and hire new people in the Front Office. They lack patience.
The worst of all is if the new ownership is comprised by multiple partners. Then there is also infighting. It has happened with the new owners of the Kings, the Bucks and the 76ers.
We can only pray that a billionaire buys the team and is patient.

 

It's fair to wonder but everyone is throwing around a lot of what if's.. I trust the rockets to sell to the right owner with the right mentality. I think that would matter to Les.

 

Does this affect melo talks? Absolutely. As a player getting traded you are not sure what type of owner you are getting. The owner can fire the GM etc be a complete shithead.
