Nope. The truth is in a thread called "Trade Hakeem or Barkley now". pls nobody bump it though. Once or twice a year when I'm especially nostalgic and bored, I like to read some BBS history in reverse order, and bumping these threads from 1999 gets the history out of sort order. It is also interesting to read stuff around major trades, signing and drafts. Bumping is not cool for that too.
I didn't even know you could necrobump something from 1999. Anyway pippen situation and melo situation are different.
The lesson I do take from the Pippen fiasco is that a malcontent player can force a trade even if it isn't in the teams best interest. Quitten didn't get the team he wanted, but he got traded. Melo isn't the cancer Quitten was, but he does have the no trade clause to better guide the outcome.

Absolutely nothing like Pippen. We aren't giving Melo the Max contract and pretend he's our best player. And Harden and Paul aren't on the decline like Dream and Barkley were at that time.
