    Just wanted to share some info I heard from my camp.

    First im not a insider or some special person. I just know people within the organization who is very close to our owner MJ.

    The Charlotte Hornets are trying to convince Melo to waive his NTC to join them. Michael Jordan who is Melo's mentor and big brother is talking to him as we speak. He is trying to convince Melo that he would have a better shot at contending if he stayed in a weaker Eastern Conference. Charlotte feels they need to go for it all after acquiring Dwight Howard. MJ thinks a core of Melo/Dwight/Kemba/Batum plus their young talent Monk/Frank can challenge in the East. Charlotte is simply looking to make another splash. They want big names in Charlotte!

    I don't know if Melo is buying what MJ is selling, but I will try to get a update as soon as I here something.

    Just passing this info along.

    Portland likely isn't even a playoff team in the west next season. There is ZERO chance that he waives his no trade clause to go there

    You're acting like Carmelo Anthony is some end-of-the-bench scrub. This is a 10-time All-Star. If the price is low enough, and it's pretty low now, it's not "news" for a team to be interested in a 10-time All-Star. He's very good at basketball. The entire reason he's one of the only players in the league with a NTC is because he's enough of a star to command that sort of leverage. Nearly all teams around the league want as many stars as they can get.

    I agree with you that the Knicks may play hardball. I ultimately think they'll blink before Melo, but either way, I do think this could be a long process, and those expecting Melo in the next few days will likely be disappointed.

    However, that's a completely different argument than what we're discussing. Melo wants the Rockets, and the idea that some random 41-41 team in a tiny market across the country "expressing interest" is going to dramatically change the equation for him is just laughable. He's not desperate. In fact, he's shown in the past that he's perfectly content staying in NY close to his family and business interests, rather than moving simply for the sake of moving. Lots of teams want him, but he's able to be picky because he has a NTC and a PO. He's not about to radically change his entire career perspective and thinking in mid-July because of a temporary pause from Mills/Dolan, all less than a week after assuring him that he'd be dealt to his preferred destination.

    Portland scares me. They do have a decent roster and I can see Melo waiving the no trade clause for them if he's desperate to get out of the Knicks.

    The only reason Melo is still in NY is because he's notoriously picky. He has a NTC specifically so he can have full control. Numerous talks over the years have gone nowhere due to his refusal to waive it. Now, in mid-July, he's going to pull a complete 180 on his career perspective because a random 41-41 team in a tiny market across the country acts intrigued?
