Carmelo Anthony expecting Knicks to resume trade talks, sources say

I think this works in my favor. He does them a solid, gets back in good graces from a players perspective. The latest word that was put out was that no one wants to be a Knick anymore. If Perry is smart he will do right by Melo and get some young guys, and picks.

 

Interesting, this report is the exact opposite of the potato report. I would love someone who knows how Twitter works to ask him about it. He was saying Portland is the third team the whole time and were taking Ryno. But Woj is saying the only way they'd be involved is if they were getting Melo themselves.

 

My guess: Woj heard from NY and/or HOU that a confirmed 3rd team was in, but neither team identified who it was. However, given the volume of internet speculation on it being Portland, Woj then contacted his sources there... and learned it was not.

Woj is very disciplined in his reporting. If his reporting from Wednesday had been contradicted -- i.e. that a third team is no longer in place -- my guess is he'd have phrased it in such a manner. In other words, that Portland had agreed but had pulled out. Instead, the way it's written sounds more like it's simply to shoot down all the speculation involving them.

One thing that stuck with me is that when talks were really hot Wednesday, and it seemed like Memphis was a good possibility as the fourth team, someone asked @ch44 if they were taking Leonard... and he/she said no. Since then, I've been wondering if maybe we were all assuming too much in regards to the Blazers specifically.

 

Its okay, cause if we dont concentrate in one area, we as Houston, dont have a damn thing to worry about. I was shocked myself.

So let me get this straight.

The Ryan Anderson fanboys used Trailblazers as an example for "Ryan Anderson contract is not that bad. See! Someone wants him."

But in fact Blazers actually want Melo??

No. People used Woj's report that a 3rd team was in place as evidence that someone was willing to take the deal. Many people assumed it was Portland, but there was never any real evidence of that. What difference does it make whether it's Portland or some other team?

 

i visited POR for a week 15yrs ago in june. rained every f'n day, was boring all around, and the 2nd ugliest chicks in north america (after the bay area)
