Knicks pause Melo trade talks

Hence the Melo to Clippers rumors when CP3 was there.

 

Interesting to see how this affects us in the trade for Melo.... there is no way we can take back salary... and will most likely have to send out everything Ngteed.... and possibility Taylor and Chuinu to be below the tax apron (hard capped) and still have a little bit of room to operate in case of injury.

We will see!

 

I wonder if someone can do the salary stuff for us to understand what happens after we hypothetically acquire Melo.

Well, we have not acquired Melo yet, have we? Had it had happened, I would bet 100 bucks that Bima would have written a piece already. Dude never disappoints. Let Melo unfold first please. One step at a time...

 

Would be nice to get a forecast.

 

I imagine it'd be hard to know without knowing what is incoming/ outgoing in a potential trade. I'm guessing only Melo comes in, but outgoing could Ryno plus anyone outside of Harden/Paul/Ariza/Capela/Brown/Nene/Gordon/Tucker.

So you get a nice forecast, and then if (god forbid) the trade fell through, then what's the point? Complete waste of Bima's time and effort.

 

You do realize Bima isn't the only individual that can crunch the numbers? There is one guy here that has a nice spreadsheet already set up. I'm not asking for a write up. If they do it, awesome, if not, no big deal.

I'm not even sure they would be ok in getting Leonard for just a (bad) 1st rounder. I think what we have to hope is that a team is willing to take Leonard with a smaller asset (like two 2nd rounders or one plus a young player) to send back a less bad contract, the Nets would have Nicholson who fits this, 18M x3 instead of 30x3 like Leonard but i don't know what they think about Nicholson, i guess they don't care that much, they got him in the trade for Bogdanovic with Washington at the deadline...Clippers maybe, they have Wesley Johnson with his 10 x2 deal, he has Gallo and Dekker ahead of him in the rotation...i think they also lost Speights, Leonard is actually very similar to Mo so...maybe Doc kinda likes him...

 

Poor Cash Considerations. Passed around like the cold. Figured he would have been happy in Portland.

 

They took Carroll for a similar package and he has similar contract value.
