If the Knicks insists on bottling Money's neck and hold Melo for some time, like after the season starts, do the Rockets have another realistic target? Do they turn the NG bros into a useful player and start filling out the roster or do they just wait?
Don't think there's anyone else out there.. Maybe hoping it's a disaster in NO and try to trade for Cousins at the deadline.
LMA? Boogie? JaMychal Green SnT? J. Okafor? Vucevic and Elf? Marc Gasol if Memphis stumbles out the gate?
We'll already have the framework for a 4 team deal that uses Anderson's salary for a max player. Take out the Knicks and add the Pelicans. Throw in Capela and some picks and there's Cousins. I might prefer that over Melo, except there's always the banana boat. Also Anderson will be midway through what will probably be his best season since Orlando.
i know Anderson is a professional but he's also human. if the Melo deal doesn't work out, it's likely we are sticking with Anderson for at least another year. It's gonna be a little awkward: "hey, good to have you back." "sorry we've been trying aggressively to trade you for Camelo or whomever else we've peddled you for over the last month or so." "Yeah man, i'm sorry i posted Carmelo in a rockets jersey." Yeah, sorry i've been telling the press that the deal shipping your ass somewhere else was going to happen and i was excited and for people to just sit back and wait." ..."but we're happy to have you back man." "not the same without you." Anderson's confidence will be through the roof going into the season. lol
Wait for a team that has playoff dreams to swing and miss. Then swoop in for the trade near the deadline.
