    Maybe.

But the Knicks ownership allowed uncle Phil Jackson to Bash Melo publicly and suggest that Melo be better off somewhere else.

Then they stood by as uncle Phil half assed the draft process, napping during workouts, then they ultimately took a foreign kid that they'd been linked to for a while.

In addition, they didn't ax uncle Phil until he publicly announced that he was fielding offers for Porzingis. I guess that was the last straw.

So they go into free agency with no leadership in place and hand $72 million to a guy that wasn't starting, that they've already had once before and decided to trade him. For all of the whining about how awful Ryan Anderson's deal is the Hardaway Jr.'s deal is just as bad.

Finally, with free agency drying up and the organization finally able to get Melo to waive his no trade clause for two teams, which would allow the Knicks to be rid of the player that they've blamed for the toxic culture FOR YEARS, they decide to hire a GM. AND ASK MELO TO STAY?

There is NOTHING SANE ABOUT THE KNICKS! If Melo doesn't wind up in Cleveland or Houston either through trade or after a buyout that would cost the Knicks $50+ million, then he should fire his representation IMMEDIATELY. At 33, there isn't much time on his NBA clock, and he doesn't have the luxury to wait on the Knicks to figure out how to get out of their own way.

Exactly. The Knicks may have completely unrealistic expectations.

I'm wondering how much adding a player like Carmelo Anthony buys us in terms of wins or playoff chances. He's a very talented player, but I do worry about having so many big egos on the same team, and he didn't have the best relationship with our head coach. I guess, in the end, I'm not going to be torn up if this falls through. That said, adding a big name is always exciting, so it will be disappointing not to see it happen just due to the interest it would create for the team.

I tend to think it won't necessarily get us more regular season wins, but will make us a better, more versatile team in the postseason. Much harder to guard 3 all stars as opposed to 1.

Real problem I see with a buy-out is loss of Bird rights. Drives into middle of cap issues the next time a contract is signed, like next July???

    Same goes anywhere BTW.

I feel bad for Knicks fans. I think they are clearly the worse ran organization now. Kings have started to wise and try and rebuild with a culture. Even trading a VP of operations they had for 40 days to the Knicks for a return of assets lol.

I'm sorry about your situation @H-Town Melo

Your opinion always intrigues me because it's never really built on emotion, or so it seems.

Your opinions always comes from lots of number crunching statistics. Or am I thinking of someone else?
