morey would sign him with the bi annual exception

You are confusing the term hard capped. We are under the hard cap of 125 million. It doesnt mean we are hard capped right now and cant add anyone. It means we are hard capped at amount we cant go over.

Hmmmmm. Like Rudy Gay entering free agency with a torn Achilles. You might like Utah.....but you can often
hear guys like Barkley, Shaq & Kenny Smith chastising Utah. Barkley recently said that the Warriors
don't want to have any layover time in Utah (during the playoffs). He said basically the only exciting thing to
do in Utah is play checkers.

I've never been to Utah.....but the players I've seen make comments seem to perceive Utah as mostly Anglo
people and that they feel uncomfortable in that heavy Mormon area. Comfort goes a long way.
Some teams can't get free agents. OKC, Sac, Orl, Utah mostly have to trade for guys or draft them.

I'm Hispanic so I don't have a horse in that race. I only have what I have seen written by players and on TV.
Maybe you are right. I think he is gone.

Rockets fans need to be patient. I highly doubt the Knicks are going to be able to convince him to stay. I also don't think the Knicks just want him to stay and turn into a cancer. The guy wants out and honestly I don't see a scenario where he'd be happy on any other team. His buddy is in Houston and Cleveland seems just as disfunctional right now as the Knicks. I am wondering if the Knicks are pushing to get the Suns to give them the pg they want.

No offense taken, but don't you think the Rox and NYK have both probed and prodded every team with any cap space over the weeks this deal has been discussed? If rumors are somewhat true and its just finding a place for Meyer then I don't think I'm in LaLa Land with that speculation.

The market for Melo is limited to two teams, with one (the Rockets) that seems to have preference by both the player (leaks--e.g. Nene post) and team (because Clev isn't offering a better package).

The NYK can try to string this out, but who says that we and the Cavs don't move on and the Knicks end up with nothing or even worse having to buy Melo out. I believe that if the Knicks were going to buy Melo out they would have already done it. They'll get some assets that will help them next year, but nothing close to market value.

Could be that but I think it is most likely them just giving their new GM the rundown.

Another week of this effects nothing really.

No Favors is not a big name. Neither was JJ Redick who got $23 mil for one year.

Here is an article. So don't take my word for it.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...angeles-clippers-next-part-enjoy-la-nightlife

Can't find an article I saw earlier in the month. I believe it had the Pistons wanting to go all out for Favors in 18/19.

With the changes they made this offseason.....I don't see them making the playoffs the season. More incentive to leave.

Knicks saying they are "pausing" trade talks and "trying to convince melo to stay" are basic negotiation tactics. It's like if you're selling a ______ and you tell a potential buyer, "yeah I got another guy coming to look at it tonight so if you want it..."

I must confess I haven't completely read the whole thread :p, but I am not surprised at the Knicks' new position: they are bluffing because they want more. Problem for them is that Morey, while patient, won't wait forever if he can further improve the team now.

Still, my feeling is that the Melo to Houston deal will still happen -- it makes many parties happy.

I wouldn't say very moveable, but certainly moveable. There are lots of Meyers Leonards and Ömer Aşıks out there teams would gladly trade for Mr. Anderson and send back compensation to do it. I mean, Pelicans suck and they aren't going to win with what they have, so if they think Cousins is gone after this season, Ömer Aşık -> Mr. Anderson being one asset and EGo being another asset may just do it. It would probably give them a better chance trying to make the playoffs than another year of Davis-Boogie pairing.

New York puts talks on hold, gives Houston chance to complete Mr. Anderson + EGo for Cousins + Aşık, which leaves New York with Cleveland's worse-than-a-buyout FU offer. Houston then signs Melo after buyout. Muahahahahahahahaha.
