NYK had to pause the trade they don't have a GM to make the trade. When NYK choose one he will try to make his mark and then the deal will be off or DMtheGM will eat his lunch gaining his thrird chin --> I mean star. #sleeves
I just feel like if he really cares about if he was wanted he would have left like a year ago... many Knick fans were ready to move on from him long ago. But he seemed to just say "to bad you can't make me go anywhere." Now maybe since he has gotten used to the idea of leaving he will decide he no longer wants to be there but he seemed to not really care about anything other than his desire to retire a Knick
My impression is that the new GM will still be reporting to Mills and will most likely be just a salary cap guy... this is why David Griffin turned down the job.
Knicks: "welp yeahhhh Carmelo we didn't reallyyyy want to trade you that much, we are going to suck balls for the next 5 years and were just curious if maybe you'd like to :gulp: stay? Pretty please?
They aren't getting offers they like, which means Morey wasn't willing to overpay (as if we thought otherwise). But it also means nobody else was. We will probably get him at an even better deal later, or a better player. Knicks organization may never be relevant again.
Why would they turn down whatever deals Morey had put together just to buy him out? No that the Knicks aren't stupid enough to do it, but that is insane!
Blessing in disguise. Now we can celebrate Chris Paul's arrival. Seems like a lot have forgotten that we picked up a hall of famer before all this melo madness. He deserves a bigger welcoming the Dwight had, or the one Melo potentially gets for that matter.
Knicks are playing a stupid game with the Rockets, with Melo and their own fans. If Carmelo has any desire to win, he demands that he be moved. All indications have shown that Melo is ready for Houston, but it seems the Knicks are trying to do the "Clippers" block the door trick hoping he reconsiders. I believe that the Rockets have everything is place and are essentially waiting for the Knicks and Melo... In my opinion, I do believe the Rockets were hoping to land Melo before the CP3 presser. Just my opinion.
We're talking about a team that sucked before Carmelo & will suck after. The same organization that just gave Tim Hardaway Jr superstar money & handpicked Derek Fisher to coach them. Yet its on Melo? Really? I think thats just stupid to say
I still think OKC is where he'll end up. People chirped me when I predicted that earlier, attacking me with "you don't understand how no-trade clauses work!" (I actually do understand) FOUR things have to happen for a Melo trade to go down 1) New York will want to trade him (we're pretty much there with this one) 2) Carmelo will have to be willing to go to whatever team (he was willing to with us) 3) Whatever team would want him and whatever risk/baggage comes with him (for Houston the risk was well worth it) 4) Make the package in the trade work for New York (we never really stood a chance with this unless we're willing to dump Ariza and EG, or Capela, and until now I'm assuming we weren't) A trade with OKC also meets three out of four in this criteria (1,3,4). (3)I think Sam Presti would be willing to roll the dice with this in hopes of turning a super team out of Russ, PG, and Melo; pretty much doing what Morey's trying to do. (4) It's funny how OKC's package of Enes Kanter and Alex Abrines isn't MUCH better than what we have to offer, but it's enough for them to bite. Alex is a young player, and Kanter's contract is one year shorter than Ryno's, while also allowing Porzingis to play more PF. (2) Right now this isn't happening. Melo hasn't said yes to any team except Houston (and maybe Cleveland), but that could change. If he truly wants to go to a competitive situation, and also a good one, OKC is definitely it. While you and I obviously feel Houston would be a way better fit, its not like OKC wouldn't also have the potential to be contenders. On top of that, Melo would welcome a fan base like OKC's and sure he sees the love that PG is gonna get.
Of course. What better way to plant a seed in Brons head than to have two of his best friends on the podium together while the city of Houston metaphorically slobs on their knobs.
No one is choosing to go to OKC. It's a scrub team in the middle of nowhere that will be selling off whatever they can by the trade deadline as they enter a complete rebuild due to PG and Westbrick leaving in FA.
Well Melo might not have any desire to win though, if he did, he wouldn't have signed that last deal to stay in New York.
