The Knicks have zero leverage so not really concerned here. They can't possibly believe that his trade value can go up if he has a no trade clause. However I do think Ramona Shelborne is stupid enough to believe that. If Melo wants to come to Houston, the Rockets will get him. Bad timing right now and a disfuntional organization on the other end. No need to panic, let the new gm figure out where he stands and he'll be here soon enough.
Why would the Knicks want him to stay???? Why would he want to stay???? Just when I thought the Knicks had finally looked around and seen what a complete **** show they were....they keep upping to ante.
sigh...I wouldn't call that pausing. That's stopping for a good long time. ,,,unless it's a bluff to get one of the 4 teams energized or attract another one. I suppose this is as good as a take as any -- that Perry wants to make sure he can't reconvince Melo to stay, before resuming the trade talks???
Knicks don't care. They are like the only franchise in the NBA that has an unlimited amount of money. The TV deal they have set up in New York provides the Knicks with an theoretically an endless supply of money. James Dolan is an idiot but he is smart with his money and investments. The Knicks can be terrible yet still generate more money than almost any other team in the NBA, sans a good Laker team or the Warriors.
melo is done with ny, he knows they are out of options if they want to start building around and developing kris. they gave him a ntc and he told them which teams he would waive it for. its that or a buyout.
How does it look like he never wanted to leave? The Knicks are complete MESS as it currently stands. He's not in their future at all. Then again, he REALLY loves New York a lot more than basketball.
Last rumored issue was that Ryno was placed but finding a taker for one of Portland's trash contracts was the trouble. Ryno actually could be a decent land for Portland as they look to open floor spacing for Nurkic and Lillard to operate.
I know people are going to kill them but I think the knicks are making the right move here. They were getting junk back. If I were hem I'd take the chance that he just opts out and the cap is cleared
The Knicks knew they were going to pull this crap the whole time. Stalling while other potential moves dry up for other teams, trying to increase their leverage. The no trade clause will be their undoing and may cost them a $50 million buyout with nothing in return! What a bunch of goofballz!
You know how Knicks been sucking on a basketball court for a long time? In the weak East, not making the playoffs year after year. THAT's Carmelo Anthony. Everyone excited about Anthony playing in Houston are thinking of Anthony from 7 years ago when he was actually good and difference maker.
The article said "for a short time" New guy wants to talk to Melo himself, once he sees they have no future together the deal will get done.
