They may be trying but you don't hear that they have made progress or that Houston has no chance like you do from those two. Could be wrong, but that's just my observation

 

exactly. i'll bet it's very close to being done and pretty near sure a thing that will happen. I just think the knicks want to chill n explore every possible scenario for as long as it takes to see if they can squeeze more desirable assets out of people. These guys get paid millions of dollars and it's their job. they are gonna put in a lot of hours on the clock on this one.

and if it fails and knicks can't get what they want then they will fall back on settling for less. I think no matter what he gets traded before training camp. what is the knicks motivation to even be in a hurry right now?

 

If Melo prefers/wants Houston and he's searching a house in Houston the Cavs can do what the **** they want, they won't get him.

I really don't view the Cavs as much of a threat. They're not giving up Love. JR and Shump are not assets, and NY would never take them back. Cleveland has nothing to offer. Have they even sorted out their front office situation yet?

At this point, Cleveland getting Melo would be like an 8th seed coming back from a 3-1 deficit.

why is a 3 or 4 way trade with Ryan Anderson possible but not with JR and Shump? Why is Clevland's scenario any different than ours?

 

Cleveland trying is not the same thing as Lebron trying. If lebron wanted him in Cleveland he would be in Cleveland. Why lebron isn't wearing his GM hat this year is another topic.

 

Cause Melo's agent is in Houston and not Cleveland for starters.

 

It's more salary for one (they make more than ryno) and it's two players instead of one and they happened to be overpaid role played at a very saturated position.

In the ryno situation, Portland actually benefits from getting ryno

Yeah Ryno could be lethal in Portland. Its perfect because we know when he plays against us in Houston his 3point percentage will instantly go down so it's no threat for us but still beneficial for Portland

Shump's contract is basically a step above the Myers Leonard contract. He sucks and is still owed 21 mil over the next 2 years. JR Smith still has 3 years left on his deal (although the final year is a partial guarantee). JR needs a specific environment in order to stay focused and not be a detriment to your team. He needs to be in a situation like the one in Cleveland with Lebron or a place like GS where guys will make sure he stays in line. Dude was a wreck in Denver and NY.

We only need to move 1 contract in Ryno. Cleveland has to find a team or teams that would take Shump and JR.

Cleveland has also not sorted out their front office situation.

 

One small (but interesting) clarification on the real estate thing: I asked if the inquiry was to purchase or rent. It's to purchase.

Yeah, J.R. contract is terrible...the Knicks have also 3 shooting guards with big salaries overall (Lee, Hardaway and Baker), and J.R. was a cancer there...no way in hell they touch him at this point.
