Why did he shoot that many 3's? Didn't he rarely shoot 3's in China?

Can you make a highlight video consisting of 2 buckets?

If Yi was actually tougher, he would have made it......damn thing thing is he always plays well in the National team.

This really confirms you don't watch the Rockets.

You realize we set records for most 3s jacked up and that our coach is Mike D'Antoni ?
Stop watching and idolizing crap players and be a Rockets fan again.

this article is accurate. He needs development and he jacks up 3s because people who ACTUALLY WATCH THE ROCKETS knows we jack up 3s.

Zhou's strong opening performance also included a pair of 3-pointers in six attempts. Since then, Zhou has missed all 12 3s he has attempted, putting him at 2-for-18 for the week. To succeed in the NBA, Zhou will almost certainly need to shoot the 3 at least well enough to force opponents to defend him honestly.

If he's working out with weights everyday like what's been reported, it surely will be effecting his shot.

He's playing as the stretch 4 role. Dantoni's offense has always used the 4 man as a stretch 4. Remember @ Houston it's either 3's or drives to the basket for layups or fouls. Nothing in between by design that is.

    Reference Ryan Anderson:

    2016-17 28 HOU NBA PF 72 72 29.4 4.5 10.7 .418 2.8 7.0 .403 1.7 3.7 .446 .550 1.8 2.1 .860 1.6 3.0 4.6 0.9 0.4 0.2 0.8 2.0 13.6
Who took 10 shots a game with 7 of them 3's. So really Qi's trying to replace or backup this guy. I

As for QI, most of his misses actually looked decent. It's just not going in. .. Supposely he's taking like 500 3's a day in practice and making a decent percentage but it's just not transferring over in game yet. The rebounds are worrisome for QI but compared to Anderson's # per 30 mins then maybe it's by design a little since Anderson has rebounded better in the past. Anyway QI needs major time in the G League.

Lol I watch the Rockets probably more than you. I know we like to jack up 3s and no 18ft jumpers. But if you are not making them, you should stop taking them and get in the paint more. Zhou is not a 3point shooter and shot like 100 3's

Since we jack up lots of 3s, why did we even draft him? Does Morey think Zhou Qi can DEVELOP a 3 point shot? Why not look at other players that play the 4 that can already shoot better than Zhou?

He jacked up 18 three pointers, obviously the coaching staff is giving him the green light.

You can't teach 7'2" with 7'7" wingspan and decent mobility in a 2nd round pick. 2nd round picks, you either go with finished players with high floors but low ceilings or go gambling on that high ceiling with low floors.. If a player has decent touch, he's got good chance to develop a 3 point shot. So in drafting it's sometimes not what they are today but what they could be tomorrow.

Also have to add the obligatory china money for Les.

It's the SUMMER LEAGUE, meaning who gives a **** how many threes he misses. That's like b****ing about teams running the Wildcat during NFL preseason. This is the PERFECT TIME in fact for him to get used to shooting threes in volume when he has the looks, since these games don't count.

Except the play does count, that's where people get contracts and coaches see if their players are ready.
Missing 12 3s in a row is not good against shorter dudes in the summer league.

If you guys think he's going to be in the rotation right away, you are delusional.

Zhou already got his contract. At this point in time, for players like Zhou, SL is for us to see what we have. If we see Zhou missing a bunch of threes now, it's much better than finding out later. It also gives us a head start on potentially working on his shot. Point is, NONE OF THIS MATTERS FOR THE SEASON, so it's a perfect time to have him jack up a bunch of shots and see what he does. It's also definitely better than Budinger who made a bunch of threes before the season and then shot blanks when it counted.

He also got 18 personal fouls. Yes we all know he got his contract. But if you are expecting Dirk or Porzingis , you are mistaken.
