I mean, I get that too. You don't send out Lou and Bev to only send out EGo later. Gotta keep enough pieces together on this as well.

AP's Brian Mahoney: AP source: Knicks, Rockets talking, no Anthony deal imminent

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are still trying to work out a deal involving Carmelo Anthony, though it may take some time — if it happens.

The teams continue to talk about a trade but no deal is imminent, said a person familiar with the situation. The person said Anthony has told the Knicks he would accept a move to the Rockets but the teams are still trying to find a trade that works for both sides. The person spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because the talks between the teams remain private.

Anthony has a no-trade clause and would have to agree to any deal. He has told the Knicks he would waive it to go to Houston or Cleveland.

The Knicks have been trying to trade the All-Star forward but finding a deal is difficult. Anthony is 33 and still has two years and $54 million remaining on his contract, and teams have been hesitant to engage New York on talks knowing Anthony could block a deal.

He had long maintained he wanted to remain in New York, but Houston became attractive to him after acquiring his close friend Chris Paul from the Clippers in a trade. The Rockets are scheduled to introduce Paul at a press conference Friday.

ESPN reported that the teams have expanded talks to include a third or even a fourth team. The Knicks are looking to rebuild around young players and aren’t interested in taking back long-term contracts such as Ryan Anderson’s, who has more money and years left on his deal than Anthony.

A trade would reunite Anthony with Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni, who re-signed as Knicks coach in March 2012 in part over his frustration with Anthony’s unwillingness to embrace his offense. But the Rockets have two elite distributors in Paul and James Harden, who led the league in assists, and Anthony can possibly settle into the spot-up shooter role he’s played in the Olympics, where he’s won a record three gold medals and is the career scoring leader for the U.S. men.

General manager Steve Mills is trying to close the deal for the Knicks after Phil Jackson and the team parted ways late last month. Jackson wanted to trade Anthony and the team remains motivated to move on from Anthony even after Jackson’s departure.

I really can't recall an NBA trade that has taken this long to get resolved one way or another

Every hour, we move half the distance to the goal closer.
The problem with the Pelicans is that they have basically nothing of value outside of Davis and Cousins. The irony here is that they almost certainly want Mr. Anderson in trade for some of their many useless bad contracts, so they are a 3rd team like the Trail Blazers with Leonard, not a 4th. Unlike the Trail Blazers, though, they don't have a Harkless that the Knicks want, so that makes the Pelicans kind of useless as a 3rd team.

It's the Pelicans, though, so there is always the hope that they have changed their minds on Cousins already. Haha. Once the Pelicans get involved, maybe Morey ends up leaving the Knicks high and dry and trade Mr. Anderson and EGo for Cousins and one of Pelicans' untradeable contracts. With the Rockets gone, Knicks says FU to the FU offer of a couple of bad contracts from the Cavs, gets desperate and buys out Melo, who in turn signs for the BAE with the Rockets. Then Aşık turns from untradeable to valuable with the Rockets and Morey trades him back to the Pelicans for a couple of picks.

    ;)

The most annoying thing here for me is all of the people writing new articles everyday regurgitating old/previously reported information. They're practically taking articles from other journalists, changing a few words here and there if at all, slapping thier name at the top and uploading it to their own sites. We used to call this plaigersm! Add something new/fresh or just shut the f up and watch like the rest of us and let the people with actual knowledge of the situation do their damn jobs.

    Dwightmare? Lol

That toon 2 years lmao and only happened because the deadline and he couldnt opt in anymore.

We need real deadlines to make it happen. Im hoping the knicks desire to move melo by training camp functions as a deadline

I feel similarly. This is the most drawn out trade in NBA history ...that may never happen. Even Stern's meddling in the Gasol/Paul trade for "basketball reasons"; that whole saga was over and done with faster than this clusterfck

Did that even take this long when it was narrowed down to one team?

The Dwight issue was him flip flopping in whether he would opt in or not and then the trad offers later, but this is unique
