Does this give the Spurs some additional cap room or flexibility to make a signing or deal?

spurs are like the patriots. They don't usually make mistakes when getting rid of players.

It doesn't have to be an absurd offer. Since SAS burned their MLE on Rudy Gay, they now can't really match anything near his worth. They essentially said bye to him when they signed Gay.

Spurs will end up signing him and Pau will take a pay cut that is what the Spurs always do anyways.

If we can get Simmons without screwing up whatever else Morey has going on, we should grab the guy.

I don't know...to try to sucker him into signing for the BAE for the good of the team.

Luis Scola for VSpan. Scola desperately wanted to come over, but the Spurs didn't have him in their plans for some reason. They traded him to us and we signed him to a 3yr/$9M deal. Even Pop was pissed about that one. That was a long time ago, though.

Couldn't tell you without looking into it. We would need one of the resident capologists to weigh in with an opinion.

I was relying on stupid Spurs fans saying he's limited to 175% of previous salary in Early Bird.

Looks like he could have still gotten 105% of league average salary in previous year. Now he loses that. So, I assume the sides balked at maximum Early Bird pay, so just agreed to part ways.

Spurs negotiating = Pops slipping something into Simmons' drink to brainwash him into taking a massive paycut for the good of the team.

Simmons is so overrated around here. He is a bench defensive wing. He's worth like 6-8m a year at most imo.

He's already 27 (or 28?) and I'm sure he's looking for his first and probably only big contact. I'm sure he's looking for the most financial security he can get.

I hope springs gives him 3/30 and he moves on from the spurs.
