Are there real rumblings that DeGrom is legitimately available?

MLB The one move each team should make in the second half

    2. Houston Astros

The Astros have a 16½-game lead in the NL West and a 10-game lead for home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs. Houston could acquire Tim Tebow and bench Carlos Correa to play Tebow at short and they might still lap the field by the end of September. Upgrading from Carlos Beltran at DH would be prudent but probably isn't necessary.

So basically the one move we should make is probably no move... You think they would have at least mentioned a pitcher since they've been talking about it for months.

Not sure if he's available but I think the Astros asked about him.

good article. I wunder what it would take to get Tebow. I think Bregman and Correa would probly get it done. Maybe throw in Tucker to. I know your going to say Tebow isn't that good but hes a winner. stats arent everything. Al Davis had it right - just win baby win. That's my man tebow in a nutshell. Get 'er done Luno!

Was that a major haul for the White Sox?

White Sox receive the Cubs 1st and 2nd prospects, according to MLB.com

Eloy Jimenez is a beast. Probably the same tier as Kyle Tucker (I'd give a slight edge to Jimenez, he comes with more risk but more reward).

The Cubs gave up a lot in Jimenez alone. Widely regarded as a top 10 prospect. Quintana is definitely a solid pitcher but Jimenez, as well as the other three guys (especially Cease who is having a nice season), is quite a haul to give up for him.

This also doesn't bode well for us, as this means all teams will insist Kyle Tucker is involved in a trade, since Eloy just went for Quintana.

If DeGrom is the target, it seems to me there's next to zero chance you'd acquire him without giving up Tucker and others.

Equivalent of Tucker and Martes plus couple low level. Guess the rumored price was true, and we ain't going there

That would be about the close to the value of Tucker and Fisher.

Cubs got themselves into a danger zone the past week and need to start digging themselves out of the hole.

So do the cubs still have prospects after this or did they drain the pond?

Ugh... just do it. Martes and Tucker havent proven ANYTHING. Go out there and get a pitcher that helps us win. We have such a young group, we will have multiple drafts to replace tucker and martes as best as possible. Its not like we are some old ass team with one last shot and next year we lose everyone so we better save our farm. We are BUYERS guys, let go of the umbilical cord.

Really glad Quintana is not an Astro but this is not good for Luhnow at all. That is a haul and a half.

Lunhow did a tremendous job building this team, but if he never spends we are gonna look really stupid in a few years replacing springer with tucker and no championship even sniffed. This team is ready, everyone talking about what Tucker and Martes COULD be, just go get what IS. Look at Judge, he was 90th ranked prospect, look at Reed, White, hell even Bregman. Its all maybes, spend a maybe for a sure thing today. We've been saving for a while. We are looking like the Celtics or something.
