    I do wonder if the leak cam from Russia to punish/strong-arm Trump. Trump and Putin just had a closed-door meeting with a Syria ceasefire. Imagine Putin had other demands Trump wouldn't meet. If he exposes Trump directly, Trump might get unseated from power and won't be any use anymore. So, instead he goes after his family and exposes Junior, with a message 'cross me again and you might be next.' There is no evidence in public to support it (in fact, I don't think NYT would run with it if they thought it came from Russia), so I won't even call it a theory; but it's an interesting thought experiment at least.

    Russia could have easily passed off the information to second or third party before it reached NYT. Hope FBI and Mueller is up to the task.

    Note Trump doesn't say it was illegal, immoral, or unethical... only that "Many people would have met" with Russian lawyer offering dirt on an opposing candidate... sure, many unethical, maybe even traitorous people president trump.
