We all knew he was overpaid at the time of the signing, but we were trying to salvage the team on the fly and he played a nice role on a team that far exceeded expectations. Now that we have another star and are trying to contend, we likely will need an upgrade at the PF spot, AKA someone who can contribute on other ways besides being a streaky 3 point shooter. Anderson is more suited for a bench role on a contender. Unfortunately, since he is overpaid, he has proven difficult to move.
All things considered, teams have it a lot worse than us with the way contracts were being handed out last summer. What a disaster. Mosgov, Crabbe, Bazemore, etc.
He's a shooting Big who can rebound decent.. Teams got to account for his shooting and by spreading the floor it helps your stars. he just got the going rate and he was a reason why we have the record we have. Veteran, Good locker room presence, that bought in. It's a Home for Ryan Anderson in the league but the Knicks want to slay this Melo trade and still remain flexible. It's not like Ryno not decent player it's because they're not contending and they want to tank.
I've been very vocal about wanting Melo. Anderson's performance at Home and his playoff performance left a bad taste in everyone mouth. Truth be told, he allowed Harden to have the type of season he had. We haven't had a 4 that spaced the floor like Anderson in a long time. CP3 made the shooters on his team incredible because he put them in the right spot at the right time and allowed them to score. Anderson will do well with CP3 just like he did with Harden. Another year under his belt and I think he will fit in nicely. If we move him for Melo that would be great. What would be even better is keeping him and getting Melo after a buyout. PG: CP3/???? SG: Harden/Gordon SF: Ariza/Tucker PF: Melo/Anderson C: Capela/Nene That's a squad
i dont understand the Hate. We have been chasing Andersen for years! we got a person that preformed well in the regular season. can shoot 3-5 feet behind the 3 pt line. creates more room for capella and harden. IF there were a 4pt line, we wouldnt be complaining. The signing of Andersen the person isnt bad, people are just made at the contract. A La Jeremy Lin. Take off the contract googles and look at the fit. The fit was good with Andersen and it still is. I am not sure Melo gets us over the hump in terms of impact. Melo is a Volume Scorer, if you take number of shots melos uses to get to Andersen's average you'll realize that those attempts will be taken away from Harden/CP3 and makes the offenses less efficient. Andersen doesnt require a ton of shot to impact the game. There are a bunch of other players that got paid but at least andersen works. IE: mosgov.
Interesting, and surprised that I forgot that. Thanks. Odd that they have since soured on him so much in just a year. Don't suppose there's a link to someone talking about the offer Sacramento gave him last year?
The Rockets haven't soured on him. He's just the piece that has to go if we were to get another star. We didn't sour on Bev, but Bev knew he was getting traded for a couple weeks. it is what it is.
I wouldn't say Sacramento soured on him. Hey only had so much cap space and they explored ways to improve. They got more value this offseason like a lot of teams have. Had they struck out in free agency they may have been more willing to discuss ryno
Whatever you want to say about Ryan Anderson, the fact is that today, he is an obstacle for us getting better as a team. I don't think anyone wants him. And I don't think packaging Capela or Gordon with him to get an Anthony type player makes us better. We are better if we get Anthony for table scraps - which we have none of left really. I think we're looking at 2018 before we can get a third wheel in the house.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope agrees to 1-year, $18M deal with Lakers At lease Ryno is elite at 3pt range.
It's a one year deal. Literally zero risk with that move. Meanwhile we have RyNO on the books for 3 more years if we can't dump him for Melo.
People are straight up spoiled by Morey's playstation maneuvers. The man hasn't made a mistake that he couldn't fix up. He still has months to let this play out while having one of the leagues better offensive stretch 4s.
no there arent 29 teams that can have anderson for free. Have to have A) Cap Space or B)Desireable players to move to NY that match or C) A need of stretch 4. So no not 29 teams.
I dislike Anderson because his playoff performance was horrible considering his price. BUT I would much rather have him back on the team than get Melo at his contract. I mean Melo could potentially be a diva and he makes 25M a year, that's a high risk high cost high reward guy. With the core of Harden and CP3, I don't understand why we need to take that risk, I mean even if we do get Melo are we better than GSW? I don't think so, Draymond Green would eat Melo up as easily as he bullies Ryan Anderson. IMHO it would be better to just roll with Anderson for 1 more year, give him one more chance to prove himself because the alternative which is Melo is at his original 25M price is a downgrade for me. Sure you get starpower but IMHO Melo is so overrated, if he was really good enough he would've brought the Knicks consistently to the playoffs every year he was there, certainly last year when the East was **** and he had Porzingis to work off. At least Anderson is a good team player and with him becoming 4rth option behind Harden, Cp3 and Gordon maybe he won't shoot as badly as before. If he fails next year he just has 2 more years on his deal and Morey can probably flip him at the deadline for someone good.
You are entitled to your opinion, but practically all of it is just wrong. I dont even know where to start. You realize carmelo has a player option after this year, and he has only 2 years left on his deal and anderson has 3. Its actually a better contract for future flexibility, and he is 10 fold the offensive player ryan anderson is. Im fine with ryan anderson, I just dont feel we compete vs GS with him instead of melo. Melo has never had a star next to him in NY EVER! With CP3 and Harden he no longer gets doubled being the best player on the floor. He will have the easiest time playing that he has ever had.
