Honestly there is no way any team could stop Harden, CP3, and Melo on the court. All of them have to be double or triple teamed. There's gonna be some wide open shots for them and especially the other 2 players on the court. Phew if we keep Eric Gordon too. The 4 of them on the court at once. Gonna be crazy.
I want Melo because with Melo, CP3 and Harden, we will have two of the 3 on the court at all times. And any combination of the 3 results in an elite creator/passer and an elite scorer
I selected: He is better than Ryan Anderson Let me start by saying I have never cared for Melo the ball stopper. This would be a decision that can make or break the Rockets....but I'm in a gambling mood that Melo respects Harden & CP3 enough to play like USA basketball Melo. Melo is pretty much better at everything except Cuts, Offscreen, Transition, PnR(Roll-Man) & Shooting for Distance (25-29 ft). Some of the disparities may be due to team concepts though. NBA.com/stats (16/17) ISO Player....................freq........................ppp.......................eFG%...................NBA percentile.............. Melo......................23.1%.....................0.99......................46.8................................78.3..................... Hope Melo can drop the freq to about 10-13%. I didn't like D12 posting up around 30% freq & clogging up the lane; but Melo can perform well enough with "Catch-n-Shoot" from 3 when not in ISO clogging up the lane. Then let's try head to head vs Durant or LeBron. Keep in mind Melo is while in Triangle Offense. Rockets parts compared to New York parts are graded higher that the whole of its parts. So NY & Cavs can key on Melo more than.....say if he was on the Rockets with Harden/CP3; imo. E Gordon if not traded.
He shoot da ball good up in dat dere bucket. Also, eh, whatever, it's not my money. We have one guaranteed year with a guy I'm legitimately excited about: Chris Paul. I'm excited because I want Chris to kick the ass of every slacker on the damn team. And also do the point guard thing. And we might as well go for broke and get ourselves another star, and Melo is still available. So, I guess I want Paul to stay, so I'm hoping adding Melo will strengthen the team in a way that makes us competitive.
Increseases my chance of getting up in LaLa from 0.0000000000000006 % to 0.0000000000000007%. Every little bit helps.
Ryan Anderson is odd: Flipped in consecutive years. 3P%: Home (16/17): 33.2%..........Home (15/16): 40.4 w/ Pelicans Road (16/17): 46.7%...........Road (15/16): 32.1 w/ Pelicans
An above average stretch 4 with athleticism. Bully in the paint. Helps us this year on the court and in getting Lebron into the fold next summer
I agree with you. But Anderson is a 20 million waste against the Warriors. Melo isn't. And that's what is driving the Rockets decision making process right now.
Personally I don't want him because I think his heart isn't in winning. However maybe just maybe Chris Paul can stir that trait in him. I did vote that it may increase LeBron chances of coming only because Morey is willing to the risk. As usual Morey will gamble if it actually has a chance of improving championship odds. Nice to see an actual thread for once today.
Honestly, I voted bc he's better than Anderson but now I just want him so this cf **** show can come to an end.

The short answer by watching him play the last 5 the seasons when I've seen him he doesn't pass the eye-ball test as a guy that is all about winning. I'm not saying there is no chance he'll workout, I hope he does. Maybe as a 3rd option he'll play his role for MDA but the only proof of that working was when he was playing COMPLETELY inferior competition in the Olympics. So I don't see him as a winner. Good scorer yes but he doesn't have the will to win to me.
Poll doesn't matter because he's not coming! It's clear that the Knicks and Rockets can't come to an agreement.
Need more? How do you know he doesn't have the will to win? It's hard comparing his last 5 seasons. 3 of them were 3 of his best seasons ever, 1 he played 40 games and the other was last year where Phil just casted a black cloud over the Knicks and everyone suffered even the coaches. One thing I know about Melo is he wants to win and him wanting to go to Houston says it all to me because it means he's at peace with who he is and understands what he needs to do. Will to win seems like empty talk to me but ultimately when you're in the situation Melo's been in people will question you so I get that but I just didn't hear anything tangible from you.
So I give you my opinion yet you say you know he wants to win... I need something more tangible. Maybe your right and he wants to win he just doesn't know how. Just scoring isn't winning.
