-Thinks the deal gets done eventually, no sense of when
-Players are trying to push it through
-Everyone he's talked to connected to front office says not close to done. Seems all the "done" "imminent" talk is being pushed by players
-"I promise" Ariza/Gordon won't be in the deal
-Knicks, Rockets and Melo all want the deal. Will get done eventually, taking time.
-Repeatedly points out that the players are the ones convinced it's going to get done and have all of the confidence. When you talk to people in the front offices they aren't as confident.
-Could happen at any point if they can find a 3rd team or if the Knicks just relent and accept Ryan Anderson or chip in an asset to move Ryan elsewhere.
-Knicks need to move Melo's salary off their books as well

@The Cat hope I did you justice with this quick recap

    Nothing new.

    Nothing is imminent.

    Good to know.

All the bad teams in the league and all the bad contracts out there yet no one wants Ryan Anderson.

Not even the Knicks who are professionals when it comes to garbage deals.

Just how atrocious is Ryan Anderson and his contract?? lol....

Right. The only "new" part is the confirmation that it's really the players pushing the narrative.

Knicks just used their room exception on Ron Baker.

Officially capped out at this point.

They have to move Melo to open up cap space to add a Point Guard.

I don't think they would made that move without knowing they'd be moving Melo

Ultimately it doesn't make or break their season whether they add a veteran PG though.

I'm actually surprised that there aren't teams competing to use their capspace to acquire an asset through this deal. Ryan Anderson is not a bad player and still extremely useful to the majority of teams in the NBA. sure the $60 mil and 3 yrs is tough, but if you could get a 1st and a couple 2nds, or a 1st and a prospect, it might make sense.

But the more i think about it, it's gonna be hard to make the compensation work because it's not just the 3rd team we have to take care of in the deal; NYK will surely want something of value as well. And we have basically 1 2020 draft pick and a 2nd round stiff in Nanu; maybe a couple of Euro stashes. That's not much to buy off the Knicks and a 3rd team.

Matter of when and not if. Rockets fans are paranoid; a deal will get done. It needs to be right for NY and Houston.

    One other bit of info:

@The Cat has a source that says Melo has been discussing getting to Houston since April as part of a super team team-up.

FYI: I, too, think Melo is coming. Like everyone else, I can't tell you exactly when or for who but I feel confident he's coming & will be here before the February trading deadline. #sourcesay

Ryan Anderson is a career 42% shooter from range against teh Knicks - he shoots fine in MSG - they need him.

Makes sense as to why they are trying to avoid him then.

Melo isn't serious about leaving NY.
He would have agreed to a buyout and either joined Lebron or Paul/ Harden or any other team.

What I'm interested to know is if our players, management and Les have a backup alternative for Melo, and using that player and our current players as a trade chip by the February deadline for him, or anyone else that may just spring up at that time.

Don't get desperate and break up the team, for Carmelo.

PS : If Lala says no Houston, then will Melo be willing to come here at all?

@The Cat: "I don't think unless you're doing a city wide celebration type event it really matters that much when the press conference is"

Le$: City wide celebration it is then!:D
