I don't know if that's Earhart or not but I always find old photos fascinating

I have no idea whether any of it is true, but I do think its interesting that locals in that area have basically laughed at the rest of the world for decades claiming this is what happened and now there is a picture that coincides with what they've said all along.

We see a close up of Amelia. She is triumphant in the face of insurmountable peril. Her plane is in free fall. She looks at the sky one last time -- one last hurrah. She smiles.

    Cut to black.

We hear the sound of an airplane crashing into the water.

    Roll credits.

    Post credits: fade in.

Wide shot. We see a dock. A few people waiting to get on a small boat. We pull in closer.

A woman is sitting on the edge. Her face looking away from us. Her silhouette glistening in the eastern sun.

We pull in even closer. In the background a massive tugboat slowly moves across the frame dragging behind a small crumpled metal ball of an aircraft.

Medium closeup. Still looking away, the woman brings a cigarette to her mouth. She reaches in her waist-pocket for something. It's not there. Her hand shrugs.

A flame ignites from a lighter. A hand reaches across to light the cigarette.

The camera pans to reveal a leather-clad man standing on the dock. His only distinguishing feature -- a black eyepatch.

Danica Patrick has cost herself several victories in Nascar and Indy racing pulling over for directions in the final laps of a race.

FYI...I believe there is a new documentary airing on National Geographic channel tonight at 8 pm on Amelia and covers analyzing/discussing the photo in the original post of this thread. Just letting you know if you're interested and didn't know. I don't know how they are going to fill a 2 hour show with this hocus pocus bs but we will see.

I watched the show. I wish more people would bother to see these things; there's a lot more to this than an old photograph. But oh well.

The only thing I didn't like was the sensationalist style they gave it. Not even necessary. Like the scene at the end of "Schindler's List" where the titular character breaks down crying. Never happened. Just tell the story.

Yea...the sensationalism of the way they told it made it all seem like it was too good to be true.

I'm still not clear what to believe. They didn't even touch on the bones and other items found on one of the Marshall Islands. They conveniently left all that out.

Are you saying that she couldn't have been on that dock two years before she disappeared? In fact, it makes more sense that she would appear somewhere before she disappeared. :D

I'm a still a firm believer in that the most obvious answer is the most likely answer.

They were flying around and never saw land. They were lost. They crashed in the sea and either died in the crash, were knocked unconscious and drowned in the plane, or some how made a soft landing (in a prop plane) on the ocean water (a Sully landing in the ocean...unlikely), got out of the plane, and floated around a while before dying.

The great mystery continues...one which will never be solved because there is basically nothing left to investigate.

The documentary is perhaps a step above Ancient Aliens - typical History Channel nonsense.

Most individuals are the same. Unless they see it with their own eyes, they'll go with the official version.

I will agree with this. They didn't have to make it look like an episode of "Ghost Adventures" or whatever it's called.
