Ah, the good ole tampering claim. This could have been one of the many years that have passed since MDA was out of the league and not a member of the association.

Wiggins-Love deal was completed like July 15th but Wiggins couldn't be moved till August 10th so the deal was pending till then but it was also given to the media

That's not true. Joe Chee can be traded 30 days from signing his contract.

I'm sure Troy Williams will be a part of the deal too and he hasn't even signed yet.

Thank God for Steve Kyler. I was fumbling about, thinking, "Why hasn't this trade gone through yet, why hasn't this trade gone through yet?" And then the clouds parted, the angels started singing, and Steve Kyler appeared to enlighten me: "Of course! The Knicks don't want Anderson's contract. It all makes sense now."

for some reason i think Detroit might make sense (they have regie Jackson ) Knicks want a vet Point guard (they have some other pieces the NYK might be intersting in (I guess Steve- is out of the loop) we all know we need a 3rd team

I don't think there's all this smoke around Melo is there isn't a legitimate chance that a team takes Anderson at our or NYK's price. Otherwise we would've just stayed silent.

My best guess is that there's some external factor likely tied to the 3rd team or teams. For example, let's say Morey has options 1 through 3. He really prefers option #1, but that team is waiting on something else to play out...perhaps they are negotiating with a free agent. Now lets assume he's already got the thumbs up on option #3 and is ok with paying that price, but wants to see if either options 1 or 2 work out.

To give some meat to these bones, consider these examples:

    Option #1
    Melo to Houston
Anderson, NYK 2018 Protected 1st to Memphis
    Jamychal Green SnT to NYK

    Option #2
    Melo to Houston
Anderson, HOU 2020 1st to Portland
Maurice Harkless and Ed Davis to NYK

    Option #3
Melo and bad contract to Houston
    Anderson, HOU 2020 1st to 3rd team
    Players to NYK

Not saying these are the deals up for consideration, but this could be what's holding up the process. It could be someone like Jamychael Green that is trying to see how much NYK will pay him, or it could be Brooklyn or Atlanta deciding how much they are willing to bid for Caldwell-Pope. Morey may already have a "yes" on option #3, but he may be waiting to see if options #1 or #2 work out.

I figured it'd be practically impossible be dumb enough to think the Knicks have leverage in this situation, but there's always Steve Kyler....

    HOU-DAL-NYK-POR
    HOU: Melo (NYK)
    'Nuff Said

DAL: right to swap 1sts with Knicks in 2018 or 2019 + F Meyers Leonard (POR) + Tim Quarterman (HOU) + future 2nd from HOU + $1.5M cash from Rox + POR 2021 2nd
Mavericks not contending this year. Bank on Knicks having worse record & higher pick (but not necessarily). Leonard can learn from Dirk. Quarterman is bought out with cash. Mavs pick up 2 2nd rounders for taking on Leonard's contract.

NYK: Moe Harkless (POR) + JJ Barea (DAL) + Ed Davis (POR) + 2020 1st from HOU (lottery protected) + 2018 1st from POR (lottery protected)
Knicks get Harkless to play SF and Barea to tutor their rookie. Davis is eligible to go for 2018 cap space. Neither 1st will be Top 15, but allows Knicks to save face and rebuild.

    POR: Ryan Anderson (HOU)
Blazers move away from luxury tax. Anderson allows them to have more space for Lillard to attack rim and for Nurkic to operate. Blazers will be able to bring back most of squad in 2018 and don't need rookie to play. Improves their chances for fighting for 4th spot in the West (OKC // UTH // SAC // DEN // LAC // MN)

    Who says no?

I can't even think of one team that will want Anderson let alone 3..but sure it could be that.
It also could be that they thought Portland would do it and then they pulled out.
Also reports have said that the problem is the contracts that the Knicks will take back. They don't want them to be long term.

Why on Earth would NY ever agree to a pick swap with Dallas? That's not realistic. They will be trash for the forseeable future.

Portland first curses you and then turns off the phone.
A 1st, A 2nd, Ed Davis and Harkless for Anderson?

Morey doesn't have 1 guy out there who owes him a favor? He can't get the hook up this 1 time?
