Still one of the best melo threads because it was before all the hysteria. I've bumped it like 4 times lol.

I think I voted no in that one too lmao.

Here's a wacky idea - good players are generally considered good because of things they do with or in the vicinity of the basketball. Its a "dominant" theme throughout history in fact.

Here's another wacky idea - all great teams and most recent champions seem to feature a veritable smorgasbord of such players.

Here's another wacky idea - big body like DMo anyone?

I feel like the offense should be ok, but on D you have Paul who does not tolerate the sort of defense that harden and Melo tend to play.
What happens when they start quitting on D and Paul starts berating them. How will they respond?
Have a sook and move on?

You think it's a debate now, wait until Melo actually drops.

You act like Melo can't catch and shoot like a mofo.

Harden would be a problem because he doesn't move without the ball and he's a streaky shooter at best.

Good thing we no longer have Dwight demanding the ball. And DD demanding we give DMo more low post touches.

do you ever wonder why they are ball dominant ? it is because most of the time they don't have any other play makers on the team, capable of setting up plays. Usage rate will always be huge for guards and players who have to run an offence mostly by themselves. Usage rate also can be a over rated stat as well. Passing is a much better stat and Harden passes a lot and gets the ball back a lot when his team mate can't make their own plays. Having Paul on the team will make life so much easier for Harden and make him harder to guard.

Harden shoots very well off catch and shoot, close to 50 percent i do believe.

Can the spurs win with a bunch of ball-submissive players?

    Signs point to no

It works when the 3 ball dominant players want to win something. These guys have already gotten paid. They got nothing else to prove but win some rings!

We got PJ Tucker and Trevor Ariza. Now that James doesn't have to carry all the offensive load and distribution load he can show up on D! If we can get another sure fire big shot blocker, we're in business.

The challenge of a super team is to have all three guys buy into lesser roles (some lesser than others). Of course, if the players are thought of as being in their previous roles, the only conclusion to be drawn is that it won't work. It is going to depend on whether there is a mutual understanding that roles will be diminished. There is no point in arguing about it until we have some on court evidence.

3 ball dominant players can win. But not with Melo. Many quoted Olympic Melo, and all I remember about olympic melo is him shooting at every opportunity he have, almost zero assist with limited rebounds even thou he is playing as PF.
