Now, if only Deke Mutombo can be convinced to play his finger wagging game in China.

I'm curious...do you think a lot of these guys who go and play for China need the money? Or do they just love the game that much? Personally, after I've had a long career like Scola I would rather just hang up the jersey than go play in a continent I've never lived in

They always go to China for shoe deals, have bball camps with kids..... and now some of them play for ballclubs...

No surprise. I think you missed what Rox players have been doing the last offseasons.

Scola is a true basketball lifer who just can't step away from the game. He will be playing in the Philippines in his mid-50s.

Considering what the Rockets paid him, he doesn't need the money but I'm sure they made it well worth his while.

Yep. He talked about this in a podcast with Woj. He won't stop playing until he literally can't anymore.

Scola is really really a good dude and loves the game, like others pointed out when hosted by Woj while back he claimed he won't stop playing ball. And I remember Woj opening podcast claiming scola to be " one of the best podcast he's ever enjoyed with" scola is really a true professional.

    Money.... Money.... Money.

They don't want to go to China for fun.

You have to realize that this is the last big pay day they will get over the next 40 years of their lives.

Funny. Nobody talks about Luis and Yao's friendship.....of course Yao has told Luis and shown him China before.

He has been to China numeral times over.

I bet Luis likes the Chinese culture as well. Sure the money is always No 1 priority but basketball in an interesting cultural setting also does it for him.

No, I haven't missed what they've been doing. I was merely questioning the motive behind it

You can kinda add Luther Head to that list. He actually signed in China during the Lockout.

During the 2011 NBA lockout, Head signed with the Jiangsu Nangang Dragons in China.[6] However, before arriving in China, he sustained an injury, and Jiangsu gave up on his deal

Yeah let's all put Head at the top of the list! I'm just surprised you put it as your second post. I think you know more about Head than you let on. Lol

Battier would have fit right there but an NBA ring with the Miami Heat is more precious!!

I think Scola enjoys the game too much to retire. He'll be playing in YMCA leagues till he's dead.
