    Don't think the Knicks GM thing means they can't trade Melo. They managed to spend $71M on Tim Hardaway Jr without a GM, so why not trade Melo without one, too?

    Doesn't sound so imminent.

    This is what I thought early on. Melo is out after his year. NY would be dumb to trade him for a contract for a role player. They should just hold onto him unless someone offers them something interesting. Hoped that the hardaway signing meant they wanted veterans now

    That's Begley, which is the NY beat spin. Woj was pretty strong in his reporting yesterday, and he's usually not that forward unless he's pretty convinced. Unless he backs off, I still think we're close to something.

    I'd be a terrible gm. I'm too impatient. If they didn't do the deal with me by now I'd have said "FINE!" And slammed the phone down and instructed my assistant to never take a call from New York again unless it was to announce Steve mills had died
