The scary part is if Cleveland wakes up and offers Love for Melo, then we lose. Kevin got exposed in the finals, but hes FAR better than Anderson
Love is 5 years younger and a better player than Melo at this stage of his career. In virtually every statistical category, Love has declined since he joined the Cavs 3 years ago. There's a number of reasons why that is, but it's not because all of the sudden Love got worse as a player; these are his prime years. I'd argue the Cavs have never maximized his talent, and playing between Lebron and Thompson essentially relegates him to a spot-up 3 point shooter, when he's far more than that. Love can play inside and outside, but he needs the space to do that, and between Lebron slashing to the rim and Thompson camping out in the paint, Love just can't operate the way he did in Minny, when he crashed the boards and dominated both inside and out. Love's defense has always been subpar. That's the weakness of his game. But it's the weakness of Melo's game too; and many other NBA stars. Bringing in Melo, i'm still worried about our front court rebounding. if we were bringing in Love, i wouldn't be. I think Love's better at this point and if he was on another team, i think it would be on display more visibly.
It's been a solid offseason but come man, you don't have to gas, this is where riding MOREY goes to far in CF sometimes Clippers got a 1st, Beverley, dekker, harell and Lou will (who we gave a first for a few months ago) And this Knicks trade still hasn't went down no way we just give up Anderson or it would've been done by now
Rumors said The knicks don't want love. They already got porzingis. The cavs don't have anyone that the knicks would want for melo. But that's coz they think they can get a star in return or first round picks That's why supposedly there is a third team involve. But who knows
I think we traded Harrell and dekker to get better players or a bit more veteran players. I liked dekker n harrel's energy but they weren't that good in defense. So since we signed cp3 morey is focusing on bringing people to compete with the warriors. We singed tucker and there's rumors we might get j.green the real one. Lol. Yea we had to give pat but even if pat stayed he would have probably played less or get traded anyway for someone else. Pat in his twitter account hinted at that. I'll miss him. Lou was just a rental kinda to see how he meshed and if he help in the playoffs. He didn't help much I guess. The trade for melo it's hasn't happened because the knicks probably still debating or seeing if they can get something better. Some reports say melo only would be ok to be traded to Houston or cavs. The knicks haven't liked either of the offers. So we just waiting for them to decide. And even if they don't trade melo right now they will have to do something. Trade him or buy him out or watch him walk for nothing in return. I kinda hope we keep Anderson. He helped a bunch on spacing the floor. He spread the floor more than ego. Made it easier for harden. And I think he had just and ok year. I know during the season his 3pt shots weren't going in. All our players went cold in the playoff we weren't hitting much. Only one game against the spurs. Hopefully if he stays he shoots better. We had wanted him for a long time and trading him now that we have him seems kinda cheap imo. But if we get melo I guess is ok
I don't think that's the issue. Maybe the Knicks don't want Love, but he could certainly fetch more from a 3rd team than anyone we could trade. The issue is the Cavs. If Lebron leaves next year then so will Melo, which means they lost whatever return they could've gotten for Love. The Cavs aren't as illogical as everyone is painting them as. It's very likely they can't make a single move that puts them in a position to compete with GSW....So why would they trade for a one year rental of Melo with the 3 years left on Love's deal? I'm sure Lebron IS fine with trading Love for Melo because he doesn't have to suffer the consequences if it doesn't work out. He can walk to LA or Boston leaving the Cavs in ruins. No way Cleveland is ok with that. IMO, the most logical option for both Cleveland and Lebron is to trade Lebron to Boston now, if he will accept it. He goes to an instant contender and Cleveland gets a solid return.
I hear you. But i can see the Knicks changing their mind and taking Love before taking any trash us or a 3rd team has to offer. Unless we add EG. But i dont feel comfortable with that one
And just what would Griff going to Knixies mean to all this? Gonna try and fleece Gilbert? Avoid Gilbert? How does he rate the Cavs' players v Mills' et al's assessments? A true game changing possibility.
LBJ distributed those contracts; Griff was his ass't. But now Griff may be a Knixie and what portendeth that?
Can Love handle the rock, lead the fastbreak, create off the dribble or run pick & roll sets? Because Carmelo can all these things while playing PF.
Perhaps the knicks do the deal before they hire griffin officially to let him start with a clean slate with the fans
Agreed. The Knicks just gave $71 million to Tim Hardaway, Jr. without a full-time GM. Clearly, they are not afraid to make...uh, "bold" moves before officially hiring a new GM.
obviously love's not gonna lead the fast break or create a lot off the dribble. I'm not down on Melo, i think he's gonna dramatically help this team. He's still somewhat versatile offensively, and he's still one of the top 5 scorers in the league; elite.
