Alright alright. Point taken. Just losing two out of three to these cellar dwelling nut ***** while having to write a damn paper adds up to a crap weekend. Just venting. Take the game tomorrow and go into the all star break with 60. Oh and to hell with the dodgers. Asshats have to cool at some point.
Pitching ... we still need to add an ace Our SPs are still vulnerable to bad innings like McCullers the other day. Fiers' ceiling is good not great. We will need more for the playoffs. And Luhnow knows that. He's thinking of how to beat the NL leading teams.
I guess we chalk it up to good opposing pitching. It's so unheard of these days to score only one run. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. It's weird. Need to get to next game and get rid of this icky feeling.
McCullers has one bad inning and now he's vulnerable? The guy has been outstanding this year. Keuchel isn't an ace? Morton isn't a bad 3rd option. Obviously if someone comes available and we can get a decent deal you do it but we shouldn't be desperate.
Agreed. The Astros don't need an ace. We have 2 legitimate top of the staff aces. Morton is a solid 3. Heck Morton/Peacock pitching 7 innings in tandem might be an ace in the playoffs. Astros will explore options to bolster the rotation as insurance but health is the biggest need.
As a result, we lost to the Jays. We haven't even played the Dodgers or the Rockies, the NL leaders. We also lost our series to the Indians and Red Sox. Gotta shore up where we are vulnerable. I'll find the link to the Luhnow interview where the front office is thinking about how we will fare against the top teams of the NL.
Get used to it. We'll probably lose another 20-30 games this sesason. Some will be a result of starting pitching. Same is true for the Dodgers, Rockies, and whatever other teams you want to name. And they haven't played us. We're going to lose more series this season too. And you know what? Whoever wins the World Series will have lost lots of series during the regular season as well We are - by adding 4 SPs (Morton, McCullers, Keuchel, McHugh) into a rotation that has been missing them for varying parts of the season.
I was going to say that a win today could put us ahead of them until I saw Kershaw was pitching. But even the mighty faulter occasionally. It also interesting that what we are doing on the road (32-11), they are doing at home (38-11). They have pitched better, we have hit better. Would make for a very cool World Series
Odd that Musgrove is displacing Martes. Martes has a higher ceiling, and has gotten better results. I haven't given up on Musgrove so I'm not mad at this, just seems like a curious choice.
Hopefully this "not good" series doesn't become "terrible" today. And somebody please "Beat LA" dammit.
