Do you win games by yourself? Love and Hayward were on better teams surrounded by better talents. Melo's numbers were on par with Haywards and his shooting percentages were near or better than Love's and THIS was considered a down year for Melo and yet great years for these guys. Judge a player based off of talent. Scoring ability, shooting ability, passing ability, rebounding, how much attention they draw and how the floor opens up due to their presence. Basketball isn't played on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
They white? In all seriousness personally I would prefer Love because of his rebounding and Hayward because of his age. but Melo is still a top 15 player in the game and the only one we seem to have a chance of getting...
What makes you think that people wouldn't have welcomed Gordon Hayward here? He was a topic of discussion earlier in the off-season. Hayward would be an excellent third star. So would Melo (potentially). Love is a super role player.
I need to see Hayward play more playoff basketball. Seems like when it got real Joe Johnson had to take over just sayin. Lets see how Hayward balls in Boston against Lebron. I've seen Melo go toe to toe against the greats.
To each their own I just think K-Loves rebounding would be huge for us and a lot of people forget that the guy is a walking double double capable of 20-20 nights while also being 6-11 with range out to 3... VERY UNDERRATED! By this board it seems.
that's good news, this is a complicated trade, lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous. lotta strands to keep track of. the more threads the better
I actually think Melo has checked out on NY and just didn't really care last season. I'm far from a Melo fan, but I do think we will see a different player when he sees a chance to actually compete.
well 99 percent of us only see him in the playoffs and nationally televised games and he wasn't very good in the finals. perhaps you are right but my opinion is that I trust Hayward to be $ in 4th quarters so much more than love.
Melos playoff percentages aren't very good and his team got eliminated in the first round in 8 out of 10 playoff series.
oh yeah most definitely. dude looked forward to the olympics and all star games more than knicks games. he's definitely a lot better than he's shown in a knicks uniform the past 2 years imo even still he hes had those games where he shows what he's capable of.
I'm not trying to hate in melo I think he can be a good fit here. I'm just pointing out that some weird arguments are used to say he's better than love or Hayward. I really can't believe someone tried to use playoffs as a way to show that melo is better.
I just don't know if I need him to be that dominant force really... you need him in that Chris Bosh role in Miami, be the third guy who's number are down but does the extra stuff. Which he so happens to have already proven he can do on a championship team... I'm not going to say no to Melo but he hasn't proven he is capable of playing any role on a championship team. I grant you Loves finals this year weren't great but he was the second best player on the Cavs for most of that series.
But i won't put down Hayward because i highly respect his game. Just seems like the games I've watched he plays so in the system like similiar to a Kawhi Leonard vs a star who gets the ball in his hands and literally takes over a game.
