They signed THJ almost exactly what they could offer up to the salary cap. They will have 13 players under contract. I don't know what kind of impact players they can get doing a trade with Houston that is likely bringing back 18 to 20 million guaranteed, that they couldn't get either way operating under the cap at that range or over the cap signing players at the MLE and BAE. I think anyone the Knicks are looking at will be minimum level players, or exception players with the cap space they will or wont have. I could see them having interest in Cauldwell Pope, but he's likely going to command more than they can offer, and they just shelled out a ton for another SG. I just don't see the need to jump back into free agency as a key component to making a Melo trade right this second. They are looking for young talent to build around Porzingis, and probably to unload longterm salary after this year. They aren't getting that this month with what is left over in free agency, unless the Knicks are as enthralled with Motiejunas as half of Clutchfans is because he's about the best that is left other than KCP.
I wish Phil Jackson was still a Knick, that way he could trade us Melo and Porzingis, screw the Knicks over for another 10 years, close these Melo trade threads, then quit.
Aside that Presti will be probably like this next summer ...while Morey will be with these guys plus Harden
just keep gordon and capela by all means necessary PLEASE. They are gonna demand gordon though. If push comes to shove I probably do it but please try to keep gordon! capela is untouchable no matter what in the trade because we need a pick and roll threat in dantonis offense. plus we need a rim protector.
