Exactly. The only thing that matters is in the AL. Plus, we're almost better on the road. Let 'em have it.
What is knee jerk about stating we will have to do better offensively against quality pitchers in the playoffs. 1 run doesn't cut it. Just as it didn't against Kluber on April 27th (3 runs) or Clevenger (0 runs) on May 20th or Darvish on June 12th (1 run). Scoring buckets of runs against substandard pitchers are one thing. Come October we need to be able to put up some number against studs like Kluber and Sale if we are going to advance. Especially if we don't go out an get another number 1 or 2 quality type starter between now and the deadline. I am a realist. Can't win them all and all that. But you have to admit. You get drunk on seeing us carry the best record in the MLB for as long as we have and it gets frustrating to see it slip.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I can pull up stats where we've had great hitting performances against really good pitchers. The selective outrage is a bit much. Being a realist works both ways. You're being a down-realist vs. an up-realist.
mofo, if you want to dance thriller go to broadway or start your own youtube channel. this is the mlb!
So you're saying it's hard to score runs against the best pitchers? Hmmm. Find me a team that just dominates aces consistently. I have complete confidence in our offense when the playoffs come around. Our best in the rotation plus this lineup formidable.
At this point, the Astros have earned my nonchalance about a bad game here and there. Fiers has earned my indifference about the HR he gave up. That can change, of course. But for now, they've earned a lot of "meh" reactions vs. "WTF!" exclamations.
Devo can't come in and hold them. I really think bullpen should be the biggest priority at the deadline.
