I would just like to take the time to say no trade clause is are a wonderful thing. Thank God Morey is not dumb enough to give one out to a max player.

and I think you're oversimplifying things

You really think that that was their biggest issue against GS? We're just gonna have to agree to disagree then.

It's not necessarily the biggest issue but the simplest way to look at it was they couldn't do anything when LeBron sat.

Kyrie and most small guards get exposed when they're out there by themselves and Love has never been that guy.

Dubs 2nd unit consists of Klay, Draymond, Iggy, Livingston and West. Melo would be able to carry a line up against them for two 5 minute spurts while LeBron rested.

Of all the Cavs issues to fix this is the one they can fix the easiest and almost have a biggest impact as well.

Helpful on multiple levels. The first one, as @BimaThug pointed out on Twitter, is that this takes away a lot of New York's potential cap space in 2019. That's the main difference between Melo and Ryno's deals... former expires in 2019 (though there is a PO in 2018), while latter goes until 2020. This makes 2019 slightly less important for NY.

Where I think it also helps our odds is that it confirms NY is, in fact, open to taking on significant salary now if it's for a player they like. They may not like Ryan in particular, or the fact that he plays the same position as Porzingis, but it seems evident now that they are willing to invest if it's a fit. This helps the 3-team possibilities substantially, because rather than having to find a 3rd team who would give up $20M in annual cap space for Ryno, Morey can also look to teams like Portland who might be willing to take Ryno if they could offload a couple existing deals in the ~$10M range. Still not easy, since it doesn't look like Ryno will be seen as a positive asset, so the players offered aren't likely to be either. But it widens the possibilities by a good bit relative to cap space being the only option. And who knows, maybe the Knicks are more willing to take iffy deals if it's 2 smaller contracts rather than 1 big one, or if the players are at other positions besides the one occupied by their current franchise player.

So I'm all down for adding another star level player. My question is this:

How does Melos game translate to the way the Rockets play and frankly how the current NBA is built? I imagine he'd be in a Klay type of role but I'm not convinced he'd embrace it in the manner in which Klay has on top of the fact he's nowhere near as good a defender. He loves the long range two, doesn't slash or drive much, and posts up a ton (remember the last time we had a dude that loved to post up?) Granted his offensive game is superior to Dwight but our offense was buttery smooth when clicking and would pretty much die if the ball hits Melo in the post. I'd have to go back and watch how he played with Iverson but the only players that seemed to click with our offense that could've been had we're George and Hayward.

I love the CP3/Harden combo but I just don't see how Melo fits.

Don't even try to be rational with me. My hatred of Ryan Anderson is not something that allows me to be rational. I've just never seen a worse player playing more minutes for more money. It's infuriating.
