Josh Rojas hit his 3rd homer for Quad Cities. The 26th-rounder from Hawaii has an RBI in 5 of his first 6 games with the River Bandits.

Colton Shaver, the Astros' 39th-round pick from BYU, went 3-3 with a solo homer and a 2-run single in Greeneville's 7-3 win over Johnson City. The homer was his first as a pro.

Reed and Tyler White both homered for the 14th time tonight. Preston Tucker also had a triple, which even Evan Gattis would be surprised to know is his 5th.

Hopefully this signals a turnaround for Reed. He was was at one point the top 1B prospect in baseball. He's currently 11th on the team in OPS among players with 150 ABs. The only guy below him is Reid Brignac.

Surprisingly, Derek Fisher is 3rd on the team in OPS -- Max Stassi leads, and Jon Kemmer is 2nd. Kemmer posted a silly 1.269 OPS in June.

Rogers was the best defensive catcher in the 2016 Draft and maybe the best defender at any position. He's a quality receiver with a strong arm and a quick transfer, but he also hit .233/.333/.309 in three years at Tulane and questions about his bat dropped him to the third round.

After posting a .718 OPS in his pro debut last summer, Rogers has batted .278/.367/.502 with 11 homers in 64 games between two Class A stops in his first full season. He has cleaned up some timing issues he had in college and is doing a better job of using the entire field.

Currently ranked No. 21 on MLBPipeline's Astros Top 30, Rogers will move up when we update the list in a few weeks. A half-season of success doesn't mean his bat is for real, but he's so good behind the plate that he'll be a big league regular if he's passable offensively.

Quad Cities was an aggressive placement for a 26th-rounder, that the Astros were clearly correct in making.

Josh Rojas is playing above his draft position, making an argument that he is a prospect to watch.

J.J. Matijevic just hit his first pro homer.

    Peter Fiorentino is Tri-City's commentator.

    Patrick Sandoval vs. Brooklyn: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K

28 K, 6 BB in 19 innings with Tri-City. Looks like he's starting to figure some things out.

At some point as a "prospect guru" you just have to say..."yep, I ****ed up."

Martes would be there but he's with the Astros currently and not eligible. Fisher could've been there but he was with the club at the time of consideration and was up for discussion. Franklin Perez was part of the discussion as well and could have been slotted at 41-50. That's 5 top 100 prospects for sure by Baseball prospectus. I believe Yordan Alvarez could be up for consideration in the off season if he keeps it up.

Could Benedetti be better than Benintendi?

    I'm so confused.

Some curious roster quirks right now:

Kyle Tucker, Framber, and Thornton all inactive.
Ihan Bernal and Bryan De La Cruz in AA.
    Chas McCormick in High A.

Futures game is on Sunday. That might be why Tucker is inactive
