I haven't found the data for the 16-17 season, but for the 15-16 season, Melo's PER jumped from 20.6 to 24.2 when he went from the SF to the PF spot

Melo helped the USA Olympic team get gold medals... Ryan Anderson had 0 points in Rockets vs Spurs game 6 in which the Rockets got eliminated but most only focused on Harden. Gotta come harder than that son.

The Gordon trade talk hurts. I think he's underappreciated even though he just won 6th man of the year. he shot 37% from 3pt last year and average about 20 points per 36 minutes. That would constitute the best player on many other teams. He's not a terrible defender either. We should keep him.

Melo fouled out that game, he was literally all we had most of the season.

Truth be told teams aren't scared of Ryan Anderson, when Melo is the game he's got your attention.

Sounds like you rather have a guy miss an open shot than make a contested shot.

Not the version of him that was in NY, the guy who specializes in contested mid range shots and other low % BS. That said, i do think there's a version of him that could help the Rockets

this is closer to how Melo would play here....catch and shoots, taking slower PF's off the dribble with a spaced floor, occasional iso

LMAO at comparing Melo to Rhyno

One thing for sure, Melo will never p***y away from taking a shot

Rhyno;s only job was to take open shots. But I was stunned when this guy kept turning down open shots and played hot potato along the perimeter. He showed zero confidence and was essentially useless out there

Absolutely. Give me the open shots all day long over the low percentage garbage. In the end, you'll win with the open shots and while there's times that players will get super lucky when it comes to the low percentage garbage, for the most part, that's how you shoot your team out of games.

I think it's fair to say most would agree that Melo is not in his prime anymore, but still an elite scorer, and he certainly would be an upgrade over Ryan Anderson.

There are other players i'd rather have than Melo, but he makes us legitimately better; wouldn't you agree?

    Tough shots win championships.

You're not getting open looks in the WCF or Finals.

Defense is tougher, pace is slower to some degree.

The Warriors missed a bunch of open shots in the 2016 Finals and lost, Durant makes a bunch of contested shots and they win in 2017.

So basically you'd rather be a loser who misses open high percentage shots than a winner who makes contested shots.

I'm sure the rest of your fan base disagrees. Also I'm not advocating isolation basketball but it has its place. Sometimes you just need a bucker. Put Melo on the 2016 Warriors over open shot missing Harrison Barnes and the results are a lot different.

He could make the team legitimately better if he buys into the way he needs to play and puts forth some effort on defense. As a 3rd scoring weapon who takes smart shots instead of thinking he's "the guy" he'd be great for the team.
