The personalities are different. I don't like your Gay-Jefferson comp. Sure, I should not say "always", but they do have a good track record of transforming "chuckers".
This is interesting, will Pop move Aldridge their starting pf is Gay, will Leonard slide to the sg so their starting sf is Gay or will Fruity Rudy come off the bench?
Well..... is there really any question about what some of the heavy hitters in the West feel is necessary to slow down the Warriors? The Thunder go out and get Paul George and give Roberson a decent amount of coin.... The Spurs get Gay to team with Leonard.... The Rockets get Tucker to team with Ariza... Teams in the West are loading up with multiple wings that can play the 3/4 and are either plus defenders or long and athletic.
So, I'm guessing: Parker / Mills / Murray Gay / Green / Ginobili Kawhi / Simmons LMA / Scrub Dedmon / Scrub It'll be interesting to see what they do with the frontcourt. I'm guess they're not going to re-sign David Lee; are they bringing back Gasol?
Ginobili, Gasol, Lee & Dedmon are FAs. Not sure of their salary situation though. Simmons they can match as a RFA.
Spurs signed him to match Durant WHen they go face to face in the WCF, Rudy Gay can show the world he is on Durant's level in the big stage
Hmm, highly doubt Gino goes to another team. It's either Spurs or retirement. Other teams might overpay for Dedmon, at this point, but who knows. They shouldn't bring back Lee. Gasol might be too expensive. Spurs will be interesting to watch. Usually, Pop gets tested with coal, and he always turns the coal into diamonds; this will be one of those times.
No, they certainly weren't, but I don't see how what you said correlates to Rudy Gay going to the Spurs. Gay is the literal opposite of everything the Spurs stand for.
I'm just not ready to write it off as a bad move yet. Guys seem to change a bit in the spurs system, not saying he is an all-star or anything.
there is no way gay starts or even averages more than 15 min a game after suffering his Achilles tear.
Im with you. I would love for this to hurt them but as of right now I dont see how it doesnt help them. They needed another wing besides kawhi. They were starting to ask too much from him
I guess it's better than paying 30 years old James Johnson $60 millions Free agent James Johnson has agreed to the framework of a four-year, deal that could be worth as much as $60M to return to the Miami Heat, league sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. – via ESPN
Last season he shot 45.5%/ 37.2%/85.5% and scored 18.7 pts on 14.7 shots in 33.8 min per game. Not that bad. In comparison, Eric Gordon shot 40.6%/37.2%/84.0% and scored 16.2 pts on 13.5 shots in 31 min per game.
Yep, these two acquisitions set them back a few years, wasting Leonard's prime. I can't imagine how Rudy Gay would play Spurs ball. The dude's game is as anti-Spurs as you can get.
