We are getting nowhere here. If Utah doesn't add an asset whether it's a first rounder or some low paid prospect, Ainge looks elsewhere and this S+T doesn't happen. Result is that the chances of Utah making the playoffs get worse and they can't even add anyone good in FA this summer coz most of them are already off the market. So either a s+T happens with a 1st or an asset from Utah, involved OR it doesn't. There's no other way. The end.
I'm not saying they having leverage, but just because you don't have leverage doesn't mean you get taken advantage of completely, but this argument is really a misunderstanding so.......
Prospects of Utah making the playoffs have been significantly lowered with Hayward leaving period jae crowder is not changing their playoff fortune, might as well roll with the team you have now and keep your draft pick because they are not competing for anything of significance this year anyway
He isn't under contract with them lol. It would be a sign and trade. It's like saying would you rather get crowder for Hayward or nothing? Edit: I saw that y'all ended up figuring it out. Lol that was so frustrating to read because I felt y'all misunderstood each other
Wait so you are saying they need to attach another asset to acquire crowder...... do you think Jae crowder is worth that being in the jazz's position???
Yeah... I would take Crowder for free. Boston doesn't need to make any trades with Utah. Crowder is one of the best role players in The Association and has a very nice contract. He has a lot of value... it doesn't matter because we are talking about Danny Ainge, the guy is absurdly difficult to trade with, he isn't giving Crowder away.
Dude, you don't understand what's going on. Quit thinking of it like that. It's not a Hayward for Crowder trade. It's a Crowder for ?? + MLE for Boston trade. Jazz have to add value, they are essentially just trading for Crowder. The only incentive Boston has is gaining MLE, outside of that Jazz would have to add value just like any other team in the league trading for Crowder would. I could see them sending Tony Bradley for Crowder I really hope Houston offers our 2020 1st+ a 2nd for Crowder, that dude would be perfect here.
My understanding is that the teams who can create or already have cap space are Brooklyn, Indiana, Phoenix, Chicago, Lakers, Heat, Kings. I can't see any of those teams except the Heat giving up a 1st rounder at this point in their tanking strategy. Maybe the Kings would do a heavily heavily protected pick. Brooklyn are desperate so they might be willing to also do a heavily protected pick with hopes of then flipping Crowder in the next year for a better pick. I don't think it's going to be so easy for the Celtics to get what Crowder is truly worth. Utah might be able to snag him with a couple of second rounders if they're lucky.
Houston, Cleveland and San Antonio should be all over this btw. I would take him in a heart beat for our heavily protected 2020 pick and NG contracts. We'll figure out what to do with him later, that asset is too good to pass up.
Exactly what I'm getting at. I don't feel hat there is enough incentative for Utah to trade any picks to bos. He is not worth it to a team planning for the future. As many of you have said earlier he is a great "role" player why would any team that's not competing this year or next year trade future picks especially a first round pick for a role player especially when they are losing an all star. It doesn't make sense.
Any contender should be all over this, but I feel people are comparing what contenders should do to what the jazz should do
Utah's leverage is in order for bos to sign Hayward they have to trade crowder, so it's either add more to entice me to trade or find another partner. Either Utah is getting crowder plus a pick or bos is finding someone else to dump crowder on, but u guys have to realize that bos has lost a lot of leverage because teams know they need to dump salary.
Utah shouldn't trade a pick for him but Boston shouldn't trade him to Utah without getting a pick. That's why the sign and trade scenario isn't s good deal in my opinion. But Utah probably wants to try to make the playoffs still and will offer up some sort of pick to get it done
Not hard at all to find teams to trade Crowder on. The question is what they can get back. Anyway not happening. Just from the optics of the casual fans Utah can't pay a 1st. Yes teams shouldn't be sentimental but there's some line there too. Angry fans seeing the 1st going to Boston there will be a riot.
I think it's also very possible that Crowder wants out, not that he can force it but...after a game last season, when Boston played at home against Utah and there were fans chanting for Hayward, he felt disrespected and said that on twitter after the game. And make sense anyway, Boston has basically 4 SFs now, one has to go, and Crowder makes more sense all things considered.
