Don't really expect Morey to sign anyone soon. Our bargain player is likely someone who can't find a good contract and wants a short deal to rehabilitate his value on a team with some exposure. These players won't likely sign for another month or so once all the money dries up. More interested to see what he can do with the ng contracts. Maybe we can be a place for Boston to dump some salaries
Yeah same here. Im wondering if Morey and Les have a 'exp date' on this Melo deal? Like if NY doesn't want to do the deal by XX/XX/XX then we move on and try other smaller deals for mid level guys in a S&T with those contracts. Like we could get two more solid role players (at positions of need) instead of just Melo if we make moves sooner rather than wait on NY. I think one of those becomes guaranteed by Fri so it will be something to watch for. I saw a story that IND was in SnT talks with at least one team about CJ Miles. I know we talked to him at the start of FA. Would be a good player to have.
What if Morey acquired Crowder and then offered up Ariza as a sweetener to NY for Melo? How would people feel about that? Or is Ariza too important due to his friendship with CP3 and presence in the locker room? CP3 Harden Crowder Melo Capela Thoughts?
It would be lit fasho but I would think teams would be willing to give up good ish for a sexy dude like killa-crowder
Isn't Bradley the best perimeter defender out of the 3 and Smart the better low post defender who can guard multiple positions?
yeah, but I'm wondering if Boston would lower their asking price since they essentially have to dump 1 of them in order to afford Hayward Could a future pick and non-guarantees get it done? I'd want Crowder, Bradley, Smart in that order
Yeah, not sure he's going to be traded since it seems like Paul likes him...but let's say it's possible, i don't really think NY consider Trevor that much tbh, they will probably end up asking you Crowder...and to me this seems like the situation where the player has more value if you keep him, good chance he will stay for cheap next season.
I remember hearing that the Knicks were pretty high on Crowder a while back so maybe we could keep Ariza and ship out Ryno/Jae. Wouldn't even mind holding on to Crowder if the Melo talks die down. He's on one of the best value contracts in the league.
Smart and Bradley are about to get huge raises next summer Bradley is strictly a 2 and we already have Harden and CP3 Smart can't shoot for **** Crowder can guard 2-4 credibly, shot 40% from 3 this past season on 5.5 attempts a game, and he's on a great contract making less than 8 mil/yr until the summer of 2020
Of course I'd take crowder. If Boston really wants to dump him for cap room I'd offer up a future first and/or international rights to get that deal done in a heartbeat. Figure out how to fit him in later. However, it would absolutely create a logjam. Ariza isn't getting traded and we just signed tucker. crowder is better than both of them but not sure you need both of those guys in the bench. Anyway, would absolutely 100% like to add crowder if feasible at all. Unlike ariza and tucker he is actually a positive offensive player
You're right. I totally forgot that the Knicks were really high on him. giving them Jae Crowder could make them willing to take on 3 more years of Ryno, and yeah, we could keep him as well which is another great option
If we could get crowder I'd probably rather just hold onto him and keep ryno before I'd trade them both for melo.
I probably would too and just hope that Melo came here via buyout or work on finding a 3rd team in a trade with NY keeping Crowder or adding Melo are 2 great options for me, hopefully Morey is in on this
I'm sure he's making a call but I just can't imagine no one out there would offer more for crowder than we can. But again, it would create a real issue for dan tony to figure out minutes. Crowder would knock ariza out of a starter role for sure. I'd absolutely be enthused to see us go to war with Paul/harden/crowder/ryno/capela
I would absolutely get rid of Ariza if it meant we could ditch Anderson in the process and bring back Melo and Crowder. I can't see NY wanting Ariza though. He's nearing the end of his career. If the Celtics are willing to trade Avery Bradley who's super tight with IT then Ariza can go too no matter how close he is to CP3. Hell the Morris twins probably sleep in bunk beds together and they were traded.
Ariza might bolt or not be re-signed when he becomes a free agent next summer, so jae would be a future player for us in the following years.
I'm glad we got Tucker to relieve Ariza but he's not young either. Ariza might have 2 more good seasons before he really falls off (already showing signs). He's got a lot of wear on those treads. Coming up on season 14 with lots of usage. Crowder would be such a good fit here. Young, bargain deal, strong, defends multiple positions, shoots the 3 well. Reminds me of a young Artest in a lot of ways.
